have scoured looking for stats and it's hard to find many. I'll admit though that evidence shows that the average ACT score is about a point and a half higher or so among home schooled kids.

Your not going to find what you’re looking for. Many of advantages of homeschooling aren’t measurable by standardized test scores anyway.

You can have a high ACT score and still be an inefficient undisciplined and brainwashed syllabus checker offer hoop jumper

No one was sticking their dick out

And your facts - or lack thereof can easily be corrected but I won't waste my time. Just know that I've been in the IT game for a long time and I know the difference between an administrator and an Engineer. Matter of fact - I designed two new sites today. My job title is actually Senior Network Engineer which is reserved for CCIE's/ CCNP's depending on the situation however I work with about 50pct Juniper equipment so it's a mixed environment which is always fun with Spanning Tree.

As for my pay, I work for the fed. We handle everything up to the ISP/DISA currently but we will be eventually functioning as an independent provider ourselves.

Slightly off-topic, but if you are ten years into [capitalized] Network Engineering and you aren't already into six figures, you probably aren't actually a network engineer. You are probably a network administrator.

False,

Pay Scale

Unless you are working in a big city and or for a provider or Vendor - Pulling 6 figures as an Engineer is highly unlikely unless you been around along time. I work for Raytheon currently.

Lots of companies tag tech employees with the Engineer title instead of technician or admin because it fits in nicely with the “professional exemption” under the flsa. The truth is that most should be hourly, not salary employees. As a “Network Engineer” of 20 years I often feel more like a technician or administrator. It’s a high tech “trade” job. “Data plumber” if you will. Either way it’s a fun And challenging job. People just want their data moved from point a to b. If you can help make that happen, they’ll pay you to avoid having to understand how it happens. My role let’s me wear a suit at times and a hard hat at other times. I troubleshoot, repair, maintain, design, install, configure anything. The most fun to me is troubleshooting issues. Any chance to break out my laptop and stare at a pcap for an hour. The same is true of “system engineers” running the servers. Or “cloud engineers” etc.

Depends on who you work for and what you do. I have full control up to the ISP. That includes firewalls, routers - Peering - circuits etc, down to the individual switches and we also design and implement new sites ourselves when we grow. I've had network jobs where we had no control and you were a glorified patch monkey with very little control of the network to now where we basically service ourselves in every aspect outside of the actual fiber leaving the sites and hitting the vendor.

I see them all the time. Their parents bring them back after a few months because it was way harder than they expected or they didn't realize that their kid is actually the a-hole his/her said they were. And some who have been homeschooled for years are the weirdest little frickers you'll ever meet.

My wife gets homeschooled kids sometimes as well that rejoin public school. She says they are always behind. Not to say it doesn't work for some people.

So the lazy dummies and kids with discipline issues that wash out of homeschooling are behind? Not sure why that’s breaking news.

Meanwhile, if homeschooling was outlawed (which it will be eventually) and you forced the kids who succeed with homeschooling back into the government system, most of them would be at least one or two years ahead of the average public schooler their age. Some even more.

That’s very much been my experience with home schooled kids in the workforce, too.

Since the HSTHU (high school teachers husband’s Union) is judging the entire philosophy of homeschooling by the kids that try homeschooling and fail.....let’s judge public welfare schools by the kids who fail there.

Deal?

What does the bottom percentile of public school students say about public schools?

Is this really an argument you think you can win?

Nothing wrong with building weapons. The reason I asked is because I'd never heard of them until I read an article this morning about a new design for a laser guided Anti-tank rocket fired from the 40mm M203 that is mounted underneath an M4 carbine. Bravo Raytheon!

I don’t know if the home schooled people I have supervised ARE the lower percentile of home schooled kids. I just know they were homeschooled. Their writing and critical thinking skills have been sub par, more notably than public school people I’ve supervised, including kids from average to less than average public schools. To be fair, I think Downer said something to the effect of he can’t judge all homeschooled kids based on what he’s heard about; nor can I based on what I’ve seen. I just know I have concerns.

That was someone else that said that. DaviyDownDawg said when homeschoolers wash out and come back to public school , they are like a dumb gif from a movie scene. Because public schools are super great and advanced.

Come to think of it. This whole thread proves how bad the public welfare school system is.
