Nice Bermuda up front, southern exposure.

Patchy mud pit out back. Sod is cheaper than the plugs right now.. Need to make a decision quick.

Zoysia is pretty shade tolerant, and usually pretty drought tolerant as well. I do believe Zoysia is also more drought tolerant than St. Augustine and about the same shade tolerant as well. Zoysia does come with a higher price tag though.

Spent a fortune on zoysia, looked great for a few weeks but didn't last long. It did rain every day for about 5 weeks. I could smell my $$ rotting away in the back yard.

I have bermuda because that is what the house came with, but I have grown to like it because I do not have a green thumb and it can take a hit of napalm and still come back after some fertilizer and rain except under pine trees and areas a shade. To combat this I have just made bigger flower beds.

Zoysia. Not sure how big the area is or if you want to spend that much money on sod.

Call Buck Jones nursery in Grayson and see what a pallet is... one pallet equals 500 square feet...if you didn't know

I'm thinking about getting into the pine straw game. Strike it rich in the coming spring fever boom targeting the do-it-yourself weekend project crowd.

How much do you think some of the atl surburban crowd would pay per bale? Also are you allowed to set up shop roadside at busy intersections or is that frowned upon? Sorry to hijack. Thanks in advance.

You will need to include an amigo if you want the yuppies to be interested. No way the chowders are putting down their own straw.

They'll only buy kilned sanitized pine straw so you don't spread your redneck germs to their pansies.

The real scam is selling them privet sprouts.

Any grass will need consistent water to look it's best. I don't think zoysia would require anymore.

Then why do people even use St Augustine? If Zoysia is so much better in every way? Serious question.

K9, one thing this thread proves is that my lawn is more interesting than Atlanta soccer.

Let's keep up this trend, even if we have to manufacture interest. We can't let them win.
