My goodness this has gotten out of hand. How the hell can someone attack the cine for being racist?? Its a freakin art house cinema for crying out loud. This actually sort of ticks me off because the cine is a really great place, its a gem downtown and this just brings negative attention to it.

Lol 'female, foreign, and minority filmmakers underrepresented' ... give me a freakin break. They show foreign and multicultural stuff all the time. These broads need to simmer down and focus on solving real problems in Athens.

The best part was when the black person said that people of color need to boycott the theater, but earlier in the article it said only white people go there in the first place. Good luck with that, Kunte Kinte.

Kids are being programmed for this stuff at a very early age now.

It used to be college when the real brainwashing began.

Now it is kids shows.

White men are no longer portrayed in positions of authority unless it is an antagonist or bumbling fool.

The mayor in Curious George is white, and an idiot. The sensible genius scientist is a woman of color. The other scientists that are white are fools who need the lady to constantly correcting them. The local firemen who are always saving the day are all portrayed as hispanic and black, and one white woman.

I could go down the line of the whole PBS lineup with examples like this but it’s difficult to do on my phone.

Yall will just have to trust me on this.

It’s gonna get worse in the coming decades.

Remember how blacks a women were portrayed many decades ago, the script has been flipped against white men.

It’s not gonna have much of an effect on me but I do wonder what impact will have on my son’s adulthood.

Yes..you start picking up on this with your kids shows but it’s everywhere.

Dad is always an idiot, mom is the smart one that handles everything ...or another idiot if it’s a kids show...and the kids are all super smart and in control and sarcastically just put up with mom and dad.

Watch a rerun of Bonanza and you’ll see how bad things have gotten. They didn’t do shite without consulting with Bill.

I’ve got a three year old and we’ve had to get rid of some shows
The one that sticks out the most is doc mcstuffins on Disney because of all the obama worship.
The war on white men is cultural Marxism at its finest. White American straight men cannot be marginalized to fit with the rest of the groups such a as gays, POCs, women, male feminists, atheists, etc.

Hmmm well let's See! The government stopped segregation to create more peace. Which it has to some extent. Forcing ones to work together in schools and work places. And even creating even with education. And even with the 2nd amendment people having rights! To give there opinions on things. While the
Goverment is not perfect at all. They have had some good causes. Children are required to go to school as well. It's the law!! And even with driving. People must wear seat belts to protect themselves from harm and obey traffic laws So Yes! It is some good in the government forcing ones to do something

So the government is a good thing bc it corrected a bad policy that it came up with? Anyone who has any love for their government or politicians is a fool.

Hahahaha I knew you was going to go that route. Notice I said it wasn't perfect. But I would think it would be a good cause considering bringing all races together in unity. But hey what do I know! And no I don't have a love for them or politicians. I just believe the country would be even worse without laws or some kind of policies. If it wasn't for the government everyone would just do what they want to do. No one or anything is perfect including the government!

Your leap from Trump campaign advisor to bleeding heart liberal in just 12 months is fascinating to me.

I'm sincerely interested in this. Tell me more about this metamorphosis.

And since the 60's? What has government done? I mean, I think we all realize and agree that some changes needed to be made at a certain point in history. However, like Unions, the time has passed. Many of the programs get in the way and have to come up with stuff to justify their existence.

We still have a way to go, no doubt. But many of the programs have run their course. Every example you have given were implemented in the 60's and/or 70's. The seat belt law in the form of the federal government was put into effect in 1968, and enforcement by the states (in Georgia, at least) in 1988. In other words the most recent of your example was 30 years ago and most were 50 years ago or so.

Affirmative Action, for example.

It has been in place for over 30 years now, that's a generation.

It was designed to level the playing field, and have a workforce that reflected the population proportionately, based on race. For federal government and federal contractors, that has now been done.

The idea was that this would get more blacks out of institutional cyclical poverty, and their children would grow up with the same middle class values and opportunities as everything else.

It's been 30 years.

Option A: The experiment worked, great job, time to go back to merit based employment and end AA.

Option B: The experiment didn't work, time to go back to merit based employment and end AA.

I have other examples. I bet you can think of some too.

Option C - The war on drugs disproportionally targeted minority communities & the Clinton 1994 Omnibus Crime Bill imprisoned 100,000s of nonviolent offenders for decades.

I'm all for ending affirmative action and the war on drugs. Freedom solves many problems.

I don’t get this opinion.

In order to get busted for drugs you have to be arrested with drugs. Other than the ability to hire attorneys- which is an income issue - how were minorities targeted? People dealing drugs were targeted. They’re doing the same thing with meth now and the criminals are pretty much al white.

So you mean that targeting the dealers and traffickers of drugs in minority communities was somehow racially driven? Do you think if a white guy in ATL was running New Jack City the cops would give them a pass?

The Chilean government forcing communists to take flying lessons over th Pacific was definitely a good thing, too.

Put a Red in a helicopter, and he can fly for a day. Throw him out, and he'll fly for the rest of his life.
