I’m with Peterson on this one. You have to give up your “oppressed” status if you’re a UGA student living in Athens. I have a hard time feeling sorry for students who have their tuition paid for by parents or lotto money.

They should visit Haiti or Venezuela.

For a sentence or two it seemed like the movie theatre chick was going to reveal some messed up racist shite that was going on behind closed doors at Cine and then it turns out they are racist because they won’t show Black Panther which is a major Marvel blockbuster playing 24-7 in every chain theatre in America... the exact kid of movie Cine would never play. Cine playing Black Panther (or Spider-Man, or The Avengers, any of that stuff) is like The Grit serving a cowboy ribeye. Calling that racism is a genuine disservice to fighting the actual racism that exists in Athens and every where else in America.

It seemed like there may have been some racially insensitive/ racist stuff happening to her and she devalues her argument by bringing up such petty non-issues like this.

The gay couple adoption issue has literally nothing to do with abortion.

There are a lot of shiny hooks in this thread but who cares....I have a cigar and bourbon to get through before bed.

Honestly I struggle with gay parent adoption. Not because of the proposed parents ...I have no problem with gay couples. The problem I have is putting a child in an environment that differs drastically from the traditional 2 parent model that evolution has proven to be successful over millennia as the best method to raise children into well rounded adults. I have the same concerns with single parent adoptions or children ripped up in divorces.

I know you don’t agree but I’m being honest here. And frankly, this would be a better solution than abortions - which especially if performed after very early stages of pregnancy is one of the most barbaric practices ever deceived by mankind IMO.
