I just watched Kirby's presser and all he did was reiterate how "efficient" we were on offense even though we only scored 17 fricking points all game.

It appears by his words that he blames the turnovers for the loss and doesn't think our offensive game plan was an issue. He also dodged a question about how he would rate Coley's year so far as OC.

Not sure how I feel about this. IS this coach speak or does he truly believe that we are playing offense just fine?

While I like these long drives where we run down the defense, when it doesn't work, there is no fricking plan B it appears as it failed Saturday and we had no response.

you're probably gonna lose if you turn it over 4 times and one is a pick 6. defense only let up 10 points in regulation.

there's a pretty good chance we don't turn it over 4 times all year and win out to the sec championship.

basically, there is a decent chance he's right. it's frustrating as all hell, but possibly true.

Efficient? Think we ranked outside the top 100 in points per play last week. If efficient means how few points you can score by running the most plays then yes, very efficient last week.

Nearly 500 yards...17 points. Very inefficient imo.

From his perspective it did work. We had 500 yards of offense and Fromm had 300 of passing. In this game though...we methodically chewed clock and moved the ball down the field followed by a turnover, or loss on downs (4th and 6?) or missed FG. We painted ourselves into a corner.

We only had 1 punt in the first half and 2 in the second half. That shite is crazy.

500 yds of offense - over 100 from Swift and 300 from from - only punt 3 times - 36 min TOP.....and lose the game. How is that even possible?

A game where everything goes wrong. Three drives stopped by ints, one because of a bad throw, one because the receiver runs the wrong route, one because the receiver bounces a short pass right off his hands. One drive killed by a fumbled snap. One drive ends with a blocked field goal, another with a missed field goal. One turnover on downs. One drive ends when you run out of game clock.

Meanwhile the other team has one touchdown drive the entire game, in the first quarter on a long pass play, and five punts and a missed 57 yd FG in the 2nd half of regulation.

No room for error with the way we play. Too conservative and too close other team always a mistake on our part or big play on theirs from being back in the game

500 yards should conservatively mean 35 points, 7x5 and all....

i mean that's not what he said at all..he said based on their metrics the running game met all the markers for being "effecient", but he said the lack of explosive plays all year has been an issue. said we've been a methodical drive team all year, vs a more score quick with explosive plays. his big thing was the 4 vs 0 turnover margin. which is hard to overcome.

he was pretty candid with all the questions...except one. he was asked about how he felt Coley is doing, and if he had anything to do with offensive gameplanning. dodge it by saying he was focused on Kentucky.

He should duck questions like that. So long as they aren't out in public acting the fool, you protect your people and talk to them in private. Telling the press "Yeah, he stunk on ice; I sure fricked up when I hired that Bozo" isn't going to do anything to help the team. Calling him in to the office after the weekend and saying "Tough game on Saturday. I'm counting on you to get us one back" is far more helpful.

The more plays it takes you to score, the greater the opportunity for flukes to happen.

It was a peculiar game but the mistakes were more ours than caused by USC. If their defense had been outstanding against others, I would bite. They have only been average. The offensive game planning (Swift tried to say it out load today) wasn’t acceptable.

We still likely win if Fromm throws the ball away (still not sure that is really what he was doing) or doesn’t have the rare bad exchange or we don’t commit pf deep in their territory on third and long while knocking out their less mobile qb or tipped ball for int or non field goal kick or blocked field goal or missed field goal attempt. However, we did all those things. We didn’t put the ball in the end zone enough or fast enough. We made mistakes.

It’s like they are throttling the offense under the guise of being controlled. It worked up until Saturday but we faced one opponent that should have even give us a second thought.

All fixable. Hope they make some changes because from what Swift was saying it sure sounds like OC might be losing his guys.

Good news is it’s all in front of us. Fingers crossed.

It's all fixable.

We were all feeling the same crap last year after LSU. 1.5 months later, we took Bama 4 quarters with a CFP berth on the line.
