Got screwed there. On Delta transatlantic and Air France A319 to Bilbao.

Was hoping to fly on 777 one way, but am on A330 there and 767-400 back. Boo...

Delta has stepped up their game on those flights. Even in coach. Just make sure you are on the 2 seat sides if you are in coach or comfort on the 330 and 767-4. The 767-4 is the oldest thing they have going over there. They have them on the Frankfurt route which sucks as I have to go there a decent bit. They are supposedly updating them now so i guess it depends which plane you get.

Delta/Air France/KLM are usually pretty good about interchanging you if there are connection issues. At least when you buy via Delta. They are even more accommodating if you are on a business class ticket. Not sure how Air France would do it, but I think thats part of the skyteam alliance deal.

My company bought directly from Air France and there are 4 of us traveling together, so I think changing the ticket around is not an option. I've flown on the A330 to HNL (a longer flight than CDG) and the 767-400 to LAX; I was hoping to get equipment I've never flown on before.

Since you go to Europe more than I do, I'm going to hijack this thread (sorry!) and ask some more questions.

I'd like to have some cash Euros (maybe $100-200)for getting food, drink, etc, in CDG and BIO on my trips. What's the best option to get them: my local bank, the ATL currency exchange, or the CDG/BIO currency exchange? Also, what's the best way to exchange them back to USD if I have leftovers?

If you are in coach, make sure you change the seats to the 2 side of the plane.

Best way to get Euros is at a local US bank. Credit Union even better. Do not do them at the airport... they jack you.

Make sure your personal CC doesn’t charge a conversion fee. That can get you. Have your company put you on a Europe plan that month or do it your personal phone. You want a working phone and data over there. So much easier getting around. Get 2 European power converters. I have one that turns one Europlug into 3 US receptacles and 2 USB. Those types are the best as a lot of the hotels are older and don’t have a lot of power options.

If you can not speak French or Spanish take the time to learn some phrases. The people will switch to English for you typically and they are nicer if you try.

I typically do not exchange Euros back since I go there a good bit. Yet, I am not above spending them all at the duty free. When my kids were younger, I’d get chocolate. shite over there is good. Booze is always an option

The flight over is tough. Tougher in a bad seat. Eat dinner, have some drinks, and try to sleep after a movie or two. If you don’t get 3 hours sleep, the first day is gonna suck. Especially connecting in CDG.

Coming back is easy. Just go to sleep when you get home.

Lastly, the closer you get to the Mediterranean , the more the girls seem to like anal. Must be something to do with ancient birth control. Just be prepared for it. That and they occasionally punch or slap you during coitus. It’s a thing apparently.

Okay, I'm genuinely curious. What's this about?

Ideally, you want a window. Easier to sleep. The middle row sucks and middle seats are brutal. Im tall so it is worse for me, but middle seats suck to try and sleep in no matter who you are... I typically fly business, but every once in a while weather or strikes frick me up and it is uncomfortable touching strange people for 10 hours.

Spooky Finley... Sitting in line at dump reading this thread right now

I have never been to the dump before and am oddly looking forward to it. Must be a lot like Disney World with the lines and all.

Assuming hes talking about no center seat to deal with getting to bathroom/up to stretch your legs etc. Also seems to be a little more leg/wiggle room to us. We always get these seats if at all possible...

Lotta configurations are 2-3, 2-3-2 etc...

I will add that aisle is actually better if you are not sleeping as you can stretch out your legs more, but between the carts, flight attendants and people going to the pisser, you will get bumped 50 times a flight and each time is right as you are falling asleep .

Ya, the a330 in comfort and coach class is 2-4-2. The seats in the middle of the 4 seat cluster are to be avoided at all costs. The 767 is 2-3-2. Any of the cluster of three should be avoided...windows are the best followed by aisle seats on the 2 seat side.

I didn't think Philly was that bad, but I've only been in/out once. If I flew there regularly, I might feel differently.

I thought Reagan was miserable the one time I went there.

I used to fly through Philly a lot during college and it was awful. May be better now. However, I spent about 1/3 of the year last year flying through Reagan and I love that place. I could leave the client site where I'd get to DCA maybe 30 min before my flight left and I'd be totally fine. Took me all of 2-5 min to get through security and on to the plane.

I am a huge fan of DCA

Dallas, that sounds alot like my return trip from abu dhabi in 2011.

Abudhabi to London (short layover)
London to Dallas (short layover turned in 8 hr due to delays/cancellations, slept on a bench)
Dallas to ATL
Drive to Athens

It was over 24 hours of travel and sucked.

I recommend you take some pills and/or split that up.

Reagan is supposed to be superior to Dulles because all the officials and diplomats go through Reagan. A few years ago I got stuck on the tarmac for hours, departing dulles, a line of storms ground stop, and when ground stop was lifted, our captain said we had to wait another hour while all the important people flying out of Reagan got airborne.
