Article says nobody got arrested and no weed was found. Natrez just admitted that he had kept some in a can in his room before and the can was confiscated. Says all discipline is to be handled internally

Don't care if they smoke, but you gotta be stupid to think you can smoke a blunt on your room and by smell up the entire dorm.

Even disregarding the mental and physical effects, inhaling any kind of smoke into your lungs is not good for your health and definitely not conducive to top physical conditioning.

You need to rethink that. Over 90% of NBA players and over 50% of NFL players smoke weed. The best conditioned swimmer who ever lived smokes weed. Usain Bolt smokes weed.

I trust that the world's best athletes know how weed affects athletic performance. The beneficial affect of weed on muscles and joints lowers pain and elevates performance.

No offense, but do you have a link to support those stats and a corroborating medical opinion? I smoked pot in my college years and I can safely tell you that it not only did in not enhance my mental or physical performance in any way but rather was definitely a net negative in terms producing the classic smokers cough, memory lapse, extreme munchies and general laid back/couch potato attitude.

Whiznot gave literally hundreds of examples, while you simply used your own personal experiences to negate his claim. I feel like you should be the one providing a link supporting your couch potato stats.

First, Whiznot did not support his "hundreds of examples" with any evidence/data. As for support for my personal experience which includes years of observations with many friends/associates here are a number of medical and other opinions which explain why marijuana is a restricted substance:
WebMD

DrugAbuse.gov

Business Insider

MedicineNet

CDC about Synthetic Pot

Psychiatrists in the UK

ESPN facts

I can tell you the only reason why it is:

quote:

“You want to know what this was really all about?” he asked with the bluntness of a man who, after public disgrace and a stretch in federal prison, had little left to protect. “The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying? We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

that's from a former nixon policy advisor. Basically way back in the old days the "system" wanted to go after minorities so they used that darn hippie reefer as their means. If america not only has no issues with alcohol but celebrates, advertises, pushes, and urges us to consume it...then there isn't one single valid reason marijuana should be an arrestable offense. None. And anyone who disagrees just has their head in the sand.

The more I read, the more THC sounds safer than Opiates for my joint pain.

Actually, I quit smoking and drinking 30+ years ago because we did not want that influence/impact on our children. There's no doubt in my mind that quitting both improved my mental and physical health. Now that doesn't mean I never think about the good old crazy days in college back in day. hahaa

This is definitely positive evidence that supports medical use of marijuana. But it is definitely NOT a substance that should be approved for general use by student athletes are anyone who doesn't have a legit medical need.

Gurley Girl, the information about the percentages of NBA and NFL players who smoke weed was reported by players in those leagues.

I doubt that many players compete while under the influence. Weed is used mainly a recovery aid but a few athletes like to compete stoned. Randy Moss, who was unstoppable, said that he always played stoned in high school. In 1983, tennis player Yannick Noah smoked a couple of bowls of hash before winning the French Open final over Mats Wilander.

Hardly a month goes by without there being news of some scientific study reporting health benefits of cannabis. Elite football players must deal with injury and pain. Cannabis is a helthier alternative for opiates and NSAIDS.
