I see a thread about the clete throw, and it was spot on. A total lack of self control. (I'm just glad it happened to them and not us)

However, a lot of people gloss over the fact that that Mullen called timeout with the clock ticking and only 27 seconds left in the game. LSU was going to have to get their FG team on the field, set up and take a shot of the go ahead FG with time continuing to tick slowly away. They might have gotten the kick away, but the confusion and rush would have made the kick much more difficult to make. With the time out it gave LSU time to gather their thoughts and the kicker time to settle down and get ready for the kick.

Don't underestimate how big that was.

UF won’t play in SECCG due to COVID fears from what they think is sneezing but is really just “A shoe?” “A-shoe?l

It's a glorious morning, everyone. The sun is out. Georgia won in a routing. Florida looked like complete assholes on a national stage.

Thanks be to God.

I agree; I would not have called that timeout.
But the counter strategy did give Florida enough time to drive the field and make a failed FG attempt which would have tied the game.
To me the real issue that led to the loss was Florida's inexplicable offense and bad defense.
LSU kept Florida in bad field position in the 2nd half and somehow Mullen thought that attempting long passes in the blinding stadium lights glowing off fog was the answer; it wasn't. Frequent 3 and outs spelled Florida's doom. All they had to do was employ the short passing game and wheel routes that they used against us to win the game.
And after seeing how Florida's defense played against LSU's Freshman QB in his first start, there's little doubt in my mind that we could have beaten Florida with Daniel's at QB and Jordan Davis anchoring the middle of our DL.

I'm still upset we lost to Florida, but this makes up for most of it. Let's kick the shite out of them next year.

At the time I thought it was dumb to call a TO. But his strategy worked. They had a chance to tie and didn’t execute. It was a closer FG than the LSU kickers

But frick Florida and Mullen nonetheless

Meh I kind of actually agree with his decision there. If they gamble and he makes it with no time they lose anyway. And Florida has a really good kicker. He just missed it.

Mullen made the right call with the time out. Had the rushed FG been good the clock would have been down to about 10 seconds. No way Florida could have gotten close enough with only one play.

This was an aspect I had not thought about. My brother (A huge LSU fan) and I watched the game together, and we both mentioned several times about the lights being so bright against the fog. I had not thought about how the lights reflecting off the fog might impact the FG or passes.

Nice catch!

He blew it when he sat Pitts. Sends the perfect message if the goal is to take your opponent lightly and get upset.

1) If it had worked, they would have won.
2) Had he not called the TO, LSU MIGHT have missed the FG because it would have been a Chinese Fire drill (Can I say that????) to get the kick off.

I'll never understand that decision. Was he injured? The announcers said he worked out pregame and seemed fine....the only other thing I remember is them saying Pitts was dinged up a little and wanted him fresh and healthy against Alabama.

Another case of Mullen outsmarting himself.

I honestly believe Alabama will win by 3-4 Tds.

Lsu has a damn good kicker.

Betting that he makes it was probably the correct bet. We will never know, I guess.

But Mullen did save enough time to march back down the field. That aspect absolutely worked.

The game was tied. I would be hard pressed to say the timeout cost him the win when ufs field goal try was shorter.

The game should have never been close. LSU was terrible and then anyone worth a crap opted out. Hysterical!

You know with all the attention on the show throwing, you are right. Mullen made a horrible mistake. #3 for UF really screwed his team and the University. Indian could say I feel sorry for him but this is UF football at its finest.

Mullen can’t make the kicks. It’s his job to get his team in position to win the game. They did not execute

He’s very good. He nailed the kick. The TO was the correct call

frick you for making me defend Mullen
