Yes. Both are correct. They’re both past their prime.

And I’ll take Ryan at 35 over Stafford at 33.

Also have to keep in mind that Stafford has been hurt a lot and has played through several major injuries, so his 33 is different than someone like Matt Ryan's, who has somehow avoided major injuries despite being hit as much as any QB not named Cam over the last 10 years.

Roddy white 4 time pro bowler
Michael turner 2 time pro bowler
Alex mack 3 time pro bowler
Austin hooper 2 time pro bowler
Devonta freeman 2 time pro bowler
Eric weems 1 time pro bowler
Tyson clabo 1 time pro bowler
Ovie mughelli 1 time pro bowler
Patrick demarco 1 time pro bowler
Devin hester 1 time pro bowler
Jake matthews 1 time pro bowler

Ryan and Stafford have had very similar careers IMO - all the fun toys (Julio / Megatron, etc) but never had an offensive line. Also reminds me of Mark Richt era Dawg football after Sturdivant went down. You cant win in the NFL with a bad OLine no matter how golden your arm is

Im positive that you dont understand.

Ryan has 30 pro bowl seasons in his offenses with the falcons players.
24 of them not on the offensive line.

Stafford has 10 pro bowl seasons in his offenses with the lions players.
7 of them not on the offensive line (1 of those, stafford missed half the season with injury in 2019).

They absolutely do not have the same toys. The falcons stacked the offensive talent. Ryan objectively has 3 times more talent to work with in his career.

Look on the other side of the ball. The Falcons have done a horrible job of providing Ryan with any semblance of a defense throughout his career. Since he has been in Atlanta, the Falcons have statistically be the worst defense in the league. They've had only one top 10 defense (2017) in his entire damn career. He has also been hit more than any QB in the last decade besides Cam, who got hit a lot because of his playing style.

They've surrounded him with lots of shiny skill players and one legitimately great offensive lineman (Alex Mack) throughout his career. The rest of the roster has been brutally bad.

Detroit's best defense since Stafford came into the league was their 2014 defense, which ranked 2nd in the league.

I feel like I need to put on my Moreno jersey and order a jalapeno popper appetizer to participate in this thread.

Id be willing to bet that atlantas defense has better talent than detroit as measured by pro bowl seasons.
Atlanta has had a better OL by the same metric.

There isnt an argument to be made that Detroit has been a better team than atlanta.

Is that your assessment? Honestly?

I would say that Ryan has done less with more than Stafford when comparing players.

No. The Falcons have been better than the Lions and the records reflect that. But people who say Ryan is "doing less with more" don't realize how shitty some of these Falcons rosters have been. They see all of these shiny skill players and think they should be great while ignoring the rest of the roster.

Well...
They have the shiny players.

And the rest of the roster is still better than the lions.
