Jordan-Hare voodoo is just code for "Auburn usually plays Alabama at home tougher than people thought they would."

wholeheartedly agree. It's just a meme at this point so people run with it but Jordan-hare is no different than uga/bama/lsu/uf or any other big boy school in that it's typically a tough place to play when the team is good and the crowd is engaged.

just one of those days. AU was a damn good team that was ranked #2 in america 2 weeks after our game, they won because they just whipped us not beacause of some crowd voodoo. That's also their only win against us in JH in their last 5 tries..

The kick six and the bullshite at the end of and the dumbass tipped ball TD against us in 2013 are the only two voodoo moments that come to mind for me.

the kick 6 has nothing to do with the crowd and everythign to do with picture perfect practice, game planning, and execution. It's always odd to me that people call the kick 6 luck, or one of teh most miraculosu plays ever. AU had obviously and CLEARLY practiced that exact play. They had guys in position that knew what to do if their returner caught the missed kick. Bama looked like they had no idea that was even a thing .

Now the hail mary against us was straight up 100% luck, but considering it was their offense against our defense, when the crowd is relatively quiet, negates any "voodoo" logic. On the flipside actaully, they let us absolutely dominate them the entire second half and storm back to a furious comeback to take the lead. And even after the hail mary, we still drove down with a chance to win on the last play. Not to mention, they were a MUCH better team than us (after our injuries in the first quarter of the season) as evidenced by our 5 losses and them being 30 seconds away from a national title.

I agree. But that’s the kind of shite that makes people believe that there’s voodoo there because it never happens.

Reality is…AU, UF, and GT entire year is made if they can beat us. Same with Tenn. Now UT can’t lose or they are out. I like this team better than last year but we simply don’t have a stud on the D line and the lack of O-line depth/talent is scary at this point.

Maybe AU will expose us a bit but we’ve averaged 200+ rushing every game this year. Gunner has had time but missed open guys because HE couldn’t SEE it. Maybe I’m alone at thinking the O-Line will be ok. Gunner is also no statue which helps a struggling O-Line.

Can our defense hold them to 17 or less?

Having a QB with legs isn't the cure-all for an OL struggling with pass protection, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

I just really don't understand why people continue to say this. There's nothing remotely solid to support it other than "hey remember when they had a couple crazy endings in games 12 years ago?" Hell let's look at every time we've played there this century:

02 W- we were the better team
04 L- they were the better team
06 W- they were the much better team
08 W- we were the better team
10 L- they were the vasty superior team
12 W- we were the much better team
13 L- they were the much better team
15 W- both teams stunk
17 L- we were the better team overall/maybe at the time you can call it even
19 W- we were the better team
21 W- we were the better team
23 W- we were the better team

So over the last 12 contests there, there's precisely one that we likely had the better team and lost. And FTR that team we lost to would end up being ranked #2 a couple weeks later and was about 45 minutes away from making the playoffs; it's not like we lost to a scrub.

And hell now that we're rolling, why stop there? Let's keep going:

2000 L- they were likely the better team
1998 W- we were the better team
1996 W- they were definitely the better team
1994 T- they were the vasty superior team
1992 W- we were the better team

Looks to me like for the most part the better team wins, which is what you'd expect to see. Over the last 17 trips there the result breakdown is as follows:

-The better team won 11 times
-Where teams were mostly kinda evenly matched we've gone let's call it 1-2
-There have been 3 really big true upsets, with us on the good side of all 3

If anything AU should be scared of the voodoo we bring with us.

Well I certainly hope it's different than Bama for our sake.

I’m not worried about voodoo or hexes…the boogeyman for me is:

Young OL that has struggled in pass pro
DL that can’t get much pressure
Secondary that is giving up a lot of yards.

I'm totally with you on all of the above. If we do lose it's 100% going to be because of our inadequacies, almost certainly on defense, as opposed to their crowd.

Georgia has allowed 6 sacks this season for a total of 14 yards lost. Auburn has allowed 21 sacks for a total of 124 yards lost. Worst in D1 football.

True…because Gunner has to haul arse when the rush is in his face or our play design has him moving at the snap. Luckily he has the legs to escape trouble.

If Beck was back there this number would look a lot different.

Their OL line squaring up with our DL this weekend is going to be the classic example of a movable object meeting a stoppable force.

I'll be honest, I don't feel good Abt Saturday. We haven't lost to Auburn in a long while and I feel like this team could let a game get away from them.

I think the defense will have success against the auburn o. But can our defense stop them?

Saturday will be a good litmus test if this defense is making improvements.
