Holy shite.
I’ve only lived here 16 months and in that small time I have seen the decline. It is a lost cause. The cancer is too deep.

This town went from so white and conservative they attempted to assassinate larry flint to becoming a sanctuary city (the only one in GA) .

I was born and raised in Snellville. When my parents moved there before I was born it was very small-town and I imagine was somethign similar to what the Winder area is today. From the time I began HS to the time I left HS it had already begun a massive shift just in that very short time period. The changes rapidly continued every year after. Every time I go back to visit I'm amazed at how different the place is compared to just 10-15 years ago.
There is no way I would think about moving to that area now with a family. No chance in hell.

I Know the general area you're in, I know a couple people that probably live a mile or 2 from you.

If we don’t move, my little boy is going to be a star kicker at Archer.

On the west side you hafta go all the way to Bremen and Carrollton to give your kids a chance in school.
Douglasville, Villa Rica and even Temple are doomed...SMH

Or you could go just a little north to Paulding and west Cobb.

Have 2 grandkids in S. Paulding. HS pod 1 in SP HS who needs IEP schooling and that's a joke and one who was supposed to start 6th grade at Austin middle school. Sux out loud, no discipline, teachers ignore IEP schooling, rumored gang activity, fights almost daily etc. they don't GAS just trying to pass them on.
I enrolled the 9th grader in Grace Christian for summer school and she's doing well, teachers respect and follow her IEP and shes catching up so she can enter the 10th grade...
Putting the 6th grader in Brighten Academy, she's gifted so was bored and unmotivated at Hutchins elem. I'm not rich by any means but imma help my daughter get the kids the best education possible.
Paulding Co. BOE sucks ...
JMO...

Come on over to Oconnee County! Pretty good setup here. School district is really good and still rural enough to count!

Thanks but the wife and I are heading to the beach to live when she retires next year.
Costa Rica, Belize or Mazatlan Mexico are our dream locations but a double wide near the beach in a 55+ community in Florida less than 45 minutes the beach will be ok...

Been there, done that. Would go back, but probably won't. Property values are overinflated and since I work in the dreaded Lawrenceville, I would have to be in the "Dark Corners" area for it to be convenient at all. Schools are overrated. Test metrics are great, but it's only because it's nothing but affluent white kids. Have a Winder address now, but really we're in Statham. And Statham is getting a magnet high school in 2020. I'll sit tight.

Great idea if you want to get into a conservative white neighborhood again.

Planning to do the same. I've got 20 years to go, though. We'll get a condo on Miramar Beach and be good. Thank goodness my wife is an only child. Doesn't have to worry about splitting her parents' estate when that time comes. Their house in Oconee will take care of our beach pad.

I was down this weekend and saw some that would he right up your alley. There's a group of 15ish trailers right at intercostal at Palm Beach Yacht Center. I'm not sure if they're associated with the marina but I did hear they were 55+. Its right at Boynton Beach, nice area and good fishing.
