To be fair, our receivers aren't exactly getting wide open on our passing plays. Checking down is the right move if you go through your progressions and no one's open when you check.
But is that a matter of Fromm being overly cautious/avoiding the middle, or are the guys truly not getting open. Tough to tell on TV.

Lol I think he got held on both 2nd and 3rd down. I was commenting on 2nd down.

The guys aren’t open. At least at the games I’ve been to, no one has been open downfield.

This. So much this.

In the LSU game Danielson said any team that doesn’t throw over the middle doesn’t have a legitimate passing threat.....for once I agree with him. He’s still a count.

They aren’t getting open. They’re being physically dominated by bump and run man coverage and playing timid because they don’t know the routes and are a bunch of freshmen. Corners are forcing them outside and it makes most of the throws nigh impossible to make.

The thing is that Fromm has his progressions that he runs through and if a receiver isn't open when he looks at them, it doesn't matter if they get open after that. He isn't sitting in the pocket for 10 seconds waiting for guys to get open like some QBs have the luxury of doing. He does his checks and then checks down if it isn't there. As long as his receivers catch the balls (or run their routes), it limits interceptions.

I like Kirby. I want to see a UGA guy succeed. I want to see a south Ga boy succeed. He’s going to have to tend to D & recruiting and get a competent OC and give him freedom.

Which, imo, ultimately brings us right back to Coley. If your receivers aren't getting separation, you need to scheme them open.

He doesn't know how. The first 6 games are evidence.

They aren't open and they aren't smart. Two of the ints last week were totally the fault of the receivers.
Fromm throws to spots, and our receivers are not hitting those spots. Not because they aren't fast enough, but because they don't run the route to the spot. Just bad WR play at this point.

I’m such a shitty fan. Haven’t been in two years. Props to the people in Sanford right now

I knew the WR position would be a problem to start the season but I was really hoping they'd get better and better with every game.

If Fromm throws it 15 times today, I'd be shocked.
