He's also very good a fumbling late in games...don't want
him anywhere near the ball if he can't get that resolved.

My buddys friend (yeah I know right) said he went to HS with Douglas, or watched a lot of their games, something like that, but the guy said that Douglas had fumbling problems back then too.

I really wish he could just put some vice grips on that ball and never let it go. He could be pretty good. I swear, everytime he runs the ball, he runs atleast 1 person over.

I really wish we would run run run the ball this year, if the OL can handle it. Rotate all our backs, keep everyone fresh, wear our their defense while keeping ours fresh. The 4th quarter for the other team will be hell. Do it Richt and Bobo

I think Richt learned his lesson back when he held Moreno back a year. He plays those guys early and often if they show good blocking technique and elusiveness against our boys. Of course the question is who wouldn't look great against our guys considering their performance last year.

GTFO and GFY...this is a stupid statement.....oh and why do you think Bama and LSU always seem to never run out of RB's?...cause they are always deep at the position and hold them back for awhile and let them get even better...with the exception of Yeldon and Henry...this has been the formula for Saban...and it has paid off preety well...

They didn't hold back Richardson or Ingram either

You don't redshirt elite RBs unless they're injured. We learned that lesson with Knowshon

JJ Green can stay at RB as he did ok this year but Douglas was awful. He averaged 4.1 a carry behind the same oline of other guys averaging 5.6 and 6 a carry. He also fumbled in huge situations multiple times. The freshman are coming in as 5 stars and Douglas was a 2 star last minute offer....for a reason.

I can dig this...I was more defending JJ and lumping Douglas in there with him...he IS a servicable backup as he has already proved...just think it would be fricked up to suddenly never play him again...let him grow and let the new guys grow.....we have fricking Gurshall anyway....why sit JJ and Douglas all the sudden?...it just doesnt make sense to me...everybody is excited cause of the new recruits...but it doesn't mean they should be out there in front of guys that have time in the system...and did a decent job...

horseshite! See Richardson and Ingram...why the frick
did we recruit 5 star RB's to "hold them back" What, you want to RS them?

You think Douglass would even sniff the field for Obama or LSU? Or even be in their top 4 rotation at RB?

If these kids learn the playbook and can block you play
them WHENEVER you get the chance.

frick this argument...im out

eta: i will grant you I was wrong about the bama comparison...but JJ is a damn fine RB and alot was laid on his shoulders last year...UNEXPECTEDLY...i agree the best guys should play, but lets see if they can pass block...THAT is the true test...

I don't think anyone's saying never to play him again, but I think his future is as a slot WR type player. I think he'll always help us in some capacity.

Best players should play. If Chubb and/or Michel are better than what we already have, they should play. Doesn't matter how old they are or that they haven't been in the system. We didn't recruit those guys to sit on the bench

I don't think anyone is saying sit them but most people think the best players should play regardless of senority. Douglas looks like he has a future as a fullback and Green has the added ability to play corner and possibly slot receiver and if the 2 guys coming in are as good as advertised these guys should be flexible. That is all. It's not a knock but they simply will never be as good as the Gurleys of the world but I am glad they played for us last year.

I should hope so. The most talented players are usually going to be with the team only 3 years.

A 5'11" 200 pound full back?

I say leave him in the mix at running back and hope his blocking skills get better.

He'd be a great "dual threat" running back on 3rd and 3.

And you never know, when Gurley and Marshall are gone after this year, who knows how well Chubb and Michel will work out, then throw in the constant threat of injury, it really helps to have a Brendan Douglas in your back pocket.

I'd love to see this. He hits harder than most of our defense.

That's what he was when he arrived as a freshman. He's probably a good 10 lbs bigger now. You could pack another 20 lbs on him and make him a damn good fullback
