LINK

"beat the NFL combine marks of Deshaun Watson and Joshua Dobbs, both of whom are smaller than him"

This kid is going to be playing in the first game. (may not start)

Edit- whether I was wrong about Lambert and Eason doesn't change the fact Fromm will not lose his starting position to Fields.

When Eason came in, as the #1 QB, Kirby wouldn't even start him over GRAYSON LAMBERT until halfway through the season.
It was after halfway through the first game.

That’s pretty damn fast for a big QB. He’s going to be special.

I was wrong but it doesn't change the fact Fields won't start over Fromm.

Your post doesn't offend me, just thought I'd add another link if you like following the combine results. Results from the Nike regional combines are posted at theopening.com under the "Results" link. Right now they're showing the 2017 results for each camp, but you can see the 2016 results by changing 17 to 16 in the URL of each camp's results page. They don't have earlier years than 2016. You can also search for an individual recruit by using the search box on the upper right.

Wrong! He started game #2 against Nicholls State. He started every game after that until ND 2017.

It doesn't matter. Fromm isn't getting bumped for another true freshman.

That point I will agree with.

I'd be thrilled if we used him in certain packages. Very useful in the red zone. If he eventually beats out Fromm, so be it but that won't be easy. I have a feeling something will play out. A Fromm injury that lets fields take over in the same manner fromm did. Or even a Fields injury that lets him redshirt at some point and builds some separation. Not rooting for that but these things always seem to work out in some strange way.

Honestly I have been hoping for a legit dual-threat QB for our team since D.J. Shockley. Fromm should and will start no doubt but Fields should play as well especially in redzone situations in which a speedy QB can roll out with an option to pass or running putting a huge about of pressure on opposing defenses.

that it may be. With that said, that could've been a trivial mental lapse while you made an incorrect argumentative post twice.

I don't think Fields starts, but they will have packages for him in the first game for sure.

I’ll be happy with whoever runs with the starting job, because that means they’re winning week in and week out. Either Fromm will improve even more this offseason, or Fields is as good as advertised.

That said I feel bad for Fromm. Guy has wanted to play for UGA his whole life. He led us to the national title game, and almost won the damn thing. Now he has to hold off another 5 Star QB on the practice field.

I feel good for Fromm. Competition makes everyone better. Fromm, barring injury, will be the likely starter all year but Fields will get a ton of experience. Both QBs will be developed and UGA will win big.

Gonna see alot of Fields next year, mop up duty and special packages, I hope the three game rule is effect next year, allowing lots of the frosh to play without burning a year or eligibility.

No way Fields is a RS candidate though
