That continues to be one of the biggest nothing burgers with big time QBs. That they pull in other big talent. They can I guess but it rarely works that way. Craig Daindridge for instance already posted this afternoon that he’s locked in and ready to sign tomorrow.

Looks like he went ahead and made it official. JC to Vandy. Fawcett stole his moment from him. Regardless of where he ultimately committed, that's a BS move by Fawcett.

I've never really thought about what actually goes into NCAA compliance beyond "don't pay dudes but keep it on the down low if you do." But there has to be some kind of system to find out if some 5 star's 3rd cousin from getting a huge cash transfer from UGA. The IRS can do it....sort've...so maybe the NCAA can do it too.
Man, as an auditor, you just gave me a great rabbit hole to go down.

I’m passed the part of “well he changed his mind, that happens”. Kirby and crew did totally right by the kid and he totally screws them (us) by waiting until the very last minute to say “yeah, all that stuff I told you over the last two years where I said I love you and I see my future at UGA, and my mom said she wanted me to go to UGA? Screw that, I’m going to another team in your conference, because I’m so great I would never sit for 1-2 years and submit to your overbearing coaching. And, you’re welcome for me considering to use some Vaseline when I screwed you, but I decided, piss off, I’m Nashville bound”. OL, DB, there are multiple recruits at each position. But QB? There’s only one each year. He just flipped a bird right in Kirby’s face.

All I know is this recruitment for a 17 year old has been anything but normal. They had a celebrity comedian on gameday saying he’d be his best friend if he came to Vandy. Like what the hell is happening here.
Well, it's not like ESPN could have Kirk Herbstreit call Curtis' dad up on the phone and suggest he needed to dump Georgia.

It probably helped that Vandy coach decided to stay.
Hopefully, we continue to beat Vandy and he regrets the decision.

He'll regret the decision after losing 8 games his first year with an average at-home attendance of 37k (20k from opposing team).
They are a fluke. Anyone who lacks melanin and has a full limb covered in tattoos should not play QB at the University of Georgia. F that kid

Kids can change their mind, but the victim is some other kid who actually wanted to play at GA but signed elsewhere because his low class family let him flake multiple times.
The more I learn the more I think he is Forest Gump, bowl hair cut Beck worried with material things instead of winning championships.

It almost felt like the family was playing along, so Curtis could have his big "shock the world" signing day flip. The recruiting services were predicting this for several weeks. Vandy's 2026 QB commit for over a year decommitted two weeks ago. But Curtis kept saying he hadn't decommitted. And his mom was saying Go Dawgs a couple of days ago, when she almost certainly knew her son was not going to Georgia.

That's the part I don't get, shame on his folks for acting like hayseeds.
After he de committed last time, he should have been told to live up to your commitment if you recommitted.
Again, so e kid kept his commitment else where, because this kid held a spot he apparently didn't want. The money would have come at GA. Vandys history is all we have to go on and this season was a super easy schedule where they lost to the two teams that mattered.

It was an easy schedule, and also Vanderbilt was loaded with upperclassmen. There have been lots of programs have a hot year because they had a rare senior laden roster (TCU for example), and then return to baseline when everybody graduates. We'll see if Lea can keep it going, but it'll take a lot of money for them to maintain this year's success.

At this point, until a kid actually suits up and plays, I don't really consider any "commitment" to be worth a tinker's damn. Even if they do show up, a not insignificant percentage are going to hit the portal. It's just a vastly different game, now.

No shortage of guys like that these days.
Honor's in the dollar, kid.

That year we lost to Boise, they had an ungodly amount of 5th year senior scholarship players - seems like it was in the mid 20s and included the majority of the starters. An 18 year old can do a lot of growing up in 5 years - mentally and physically.

Boise had mormon kids who had already done their mission trips. 22-26 year olds.

With 5 years of development , that’s an NFL practice squad

Yup, wish we could do both, have several older kids for trench's and dbs and young blue chips for pure talent.

Agreed - i've largely (but not really) stopped following recruiting for this reason. Particularly QB recruits.
Eason, Vandagriff, Fields all examples of 5 stars that weren't worth s***. I'll recognize Fields as a talent, but also a locker room cancer, "me" guy. Love watching his abysmal NFL career.

2026 Brock Vandergriff, without the character.
