Because he also made some utterly stupid moves as well with qb recruiting
With Stafford, Murray and Mason? Sounds like he made some good along with the bad.
Stafford was already starting as a Freshman so it woulda been difficult to get him here regardless. (Tebow wasn't starting as a Freshman at UF BTW)

Yup. That's why I said some.

UGA averaged 41+ ppg his last year here, 2014. I could dig some of that action coupled with a Kirbs/Lanning defense.

so is it safe to say you like pittman? Are we going from a dumpster fire to a nuclear accident... or righting the ship a little?
I loved the dude at Arkansas under CBB, when he left it all began falling apart. But as a HC?
I am sure he can recruit, and form a decent staff... whew... we shall see I guess.

He waited until signing day to make sure he got Ramsey and then offered Watson.
Why would he do that?
My point of the question is why offer one QB right after you get a 4 star signed? Seems like that happens if the opposite happened.

"It's always the nature of the beast," Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said Sunday before Pittman's hiring was announced. "You always hear rumors flying around and things coming around, but you never know what's true and what's not. Right now we're focusing on the Sugar Bowl and getting ready for it."
Guess I wasn’t really a fan that it sounds like Kirby didn’t know in this quote. It is the nature of the beast and has the be one of Saban’s greatest challenges. You have to respect them for constantly rebuilding staff. Most of these guys are in it for the money. They aren’t our friends nor do they bleed red and black. They are rented to do a job. Pittman was a great recruiter, no question. He was also an integral part of the offense that scored the second fewest points on LSU of any SEC team, with it all on the line.
It also helps explain why Saban minimizes the exposure his coaches get in the media. Schools are grasping to get a name brand to appease wealthy donors. If Kirby is truly the long term man for Georgia, he (and the ADs) will have to always have a plan in place to replace and develop coaches, no different than any organization. Developing is always cheaper and gives you the chance to keep them longer and possibly build some level of loyalty.
This does sting in a position critical to success that on paper was supposed to be our strongest asset this year. The distribution of SEC money and fandom of SEC football means that even unsuccessful teams have the budgets to pay the dollars to lure guys away. We only have to look across the SEC to see how many of these highly paid guys are in over their head. Pittman will now bleed whatever color red the hogs are and preach about going home the same way Muschamp pretended like he never actually went to UGA or high school in GA when he arrived in Gainesville.
Perhaps the Bobo to USCe is a story we will never get to know. Perhaps there is a guy we know nothing about at this point who can do both jobs better. I also bet this year Bama has fewer coaches to replace than any recent year.

The fear was Watson scaring Ramsey away to bama. What a mistake that was.

Both Pittman and Arkansas are stupid. He's never even been a coordinator and they're hiring him to turn a program around? Not exactly a young man either. Really surprising hire

Arkansas might be but he's smart for taking the job. It's the one job he wanted and it will pay him a large amount of money. If he flames out he can always go back to being a great OL coach.

Who else thinks he may try to pull Chaney back over from Tenner? They are good friends and this is his opportunity to get the band back together. Chaney is a proven commodity at this point and would be seen as a homerun hire for them.

I would love that just so we're not miserably by ourselves.

It might be as simple as BoBo doesn't like our current AD.

It is crazy that arkansas' worst case scenario has become our worst case scenario.
The coaching searches for the bottom dwellers of the SEC is really fubar.
