If UGA shows up undefeated and loses to bama are we out? (seems like everyone has Georgia fatigue and is voting accordingly)

Depends on a lot of factors.

But if

FSU is 13-0 ACC champ

Oregon/Washington 12-1 pac 12 champ

OSU/Michigan 13-0 Big Ten Champ

And Texas is 12-1 Big 12 Champ

I doubt we go if we lose to Bama. Might could argue we should go in over Texas, but they would have winning at Bama vs our neutral site loss.

We probably need AT LEAST an FSU or Texas loss AND the PAC-12 to cannibalize Oregon and Washington for us to realistically have a shot at getting in with an SECCG loss.

We also need to make sure we get to the SECCG 12-0. Whole conversation is a moot point if you lose to Tennessee or Tech.

Yes, assumign chalk the rest of the way.

As has been the case the lats 9 yeras, questions of "will [so and so] make the playoffs" massively hingest on the other P5 conference champs. For this exercise if we assume Florida State, the winner of the Pac with 0/1 loss, and the winner of OSU/UM are all in, then we would not make the 4th spot.

There is no logical way a 12-1 UGA that did not win it's conference is making the playoffs over a 12-1 alabama that no only did win its conference, but just beat UGA.

I disagree. We'd be better of as a 1-loss SEC Champ than a 1-loss non-SEC Champ.

We'd be better off losing to Tenn and still winning the SEC than the other way around.

If we don't win the SEC, we are not making the playoffs. Which essentially answers the question in the OP.

Committee seems more retarded than normal this year so I would say yes. It’s a playoff game for sure.
Only way I see it remotely maybe possibly not being a playoff is a high scoring game that goes to OT and we lose by a fg.

So, if Michigan beats Ohio State and then loses to Iowa in the CCG, Texas loses in their CCG, and Louisville beats FSU in the ACC CCG….who is your 4 if Bama beats UGA?

Another thing I want to add. We are loving this ride but the rest of the country is absolutely sick of us. We are the bad guys now. I’d say they’d use any reason to keep us out this year bc starting next year with the expanded playoffs we are going to be in it every year as long as Kirby is here.

First of all, I want ot say that around this time people ALWAYS throw out these crazy ridiculous scenarios that don't ever play out. What you described is not what I'd call "impossible", but let's be honest it aint happening. BUT just for disuccion's sake, we'd have:

12-1 Michigan, non champ
11-1 OSU, non champ
11-2 Iowa, Big10 Champ
12-1 Texas, non champ
2/3/4/ loss Big 12 champion (whoever)
12-1 FSU, non champ
12-1 Lousville, ACC champ
12-1 Alabama, SEC champ
12-1 UGA nonchamp

12-1 Alabama and 12-1 Lousville would definitely be in, as would the Pac12 champ Oregon/Wash who presumably has 0 or 1 loss.

As for the last spot, that's tough to answer because there isn't precedent for this kind of craziness. Every year by the time CCG concludes everythign has bene wrapped up in a neat bow. The big 12 champ in this case has no chance. I'm inclind to exclude Iowa as well based on them having 2 losses. OSU/UM would both be 1-los non champs but UM would've won so let's throw out OSU. I guess you'd be looking at either UGA, UM, or Texas, all of which are 12-1, made their CCG, then lost it. Honestly don't know what would happen in that scenario.

Agreed. A streak-breaking win over UGA in the SECCG by Bama would ensure that they have the best win in all of CFB.

Yeah, Childers & Neuheisel were on Full Ride on ESPNU Radio on XM this morning talking about UGA fatigue and how refreshing the Milroe story is for Bama. It's like they totally memory holed the past 15 years of Bama dominance.

Yes

Unlikely all the others get another loss.

Michigan or OSU
Oregon or Washington
Florida State
Maybe Texas
Al or UGA

We don't even have to think about losing to Bama.

Bama has to think about beating Georgia.

Just shows how everyone is really only talking about the last year or so whenever they're discussing such matters. Recency bias is rampant in sports media and fanbases.

It hasn't even been 2 years since the country was debating whether UGA would ever get over the Alabama hump and 1980 as an insult was still hot in the streets.

PAC-12 probably has a spot sewn up.
SEC would have Bama.
B1G would have UM/tOSU.

FSU still needs to play Miami, Florida, and probably Louisville. Brutal stretch for a team which, imo, isn't that amazing. Good, not great.

Texas isn't good and their loss was a bad one. Worst case, we end up with the same record as them but with our loss against Bama and theirs against OU. Advantage: UGA

The thing that really pisses me off the most is how the B1G essentially gets an auto-bid based on inflated defensive numbers against, by far, the absolute worst conference in football. UM is getting praised for beating Penn St? Really? Penn St fricking blows...a 19yo qb who struggles to get a pass within 2 yards of his receiver. The entire B1G West is a joke and the East isn't that much better.

Always is. It probably should be dropped.

What happens with play-off field is expanded?
