Easy way to fix it is NIL cap and sit a year after portaling
No need for a cap. Just make them sit a year. That will cap NIL in a heartbeat.

The question is when does a collective make the finds to a player contingent on staying at the school for a multiple year period.

Probably never as a good player will always have someone in his ear

I get it.
I was looking through the list of kids that won’t be here next year and it’s ridiculous….we’re going to be fielding damn near a whole new team.
That said, the kids that are playing want to be here and will be some youngsters getting their shot so that will be fun to watch….but who knows what the result will be. I’d love to see them gel and get after it.

In some form or fashion, the reason we love college football has been diminished. It may be different for each person, but it has been affected.
I agree. I've been thinking for at least a while hat I'm probably not going to renew my tickets after the 25 season. It's not fun going to games or tailgating anymore and it hasn't been for a couple years. I don't even enjoy following recruiting anymore.
I don't mind change, but they took something that worked and bastardized it. The powers that be don't care because they're making tons of money off of tv contracts. That's the root cause for all of our displeasure. At some point, they'll start playing games on a tv stage.

What makes a team great, to rise above the other 130 or so teams, is hardwork and gruelling with practices so hard the game is easy. Pure competition.
Now we have a situation where the above is self defeating as the titty babies just transfer when the going gets tough and are often rewarded for doing so.

Capping could work but then u just back to under table dealings. Also every state has different NIL rules. As far as transfers go it should be just a one time transfer.

If you believe the portal thread, Wilson has a $400K buyout owed if he leaves early. In order to transfer, he had to find a school willing to pay the buyout on top of his new NIL deal.

What happened this week to push you over the edge?

Watching a slow motion trainwreck isn't for everyone.

I don't see how it has the same appeal, but I am too old to see the final results of all the changes. Glad I was around long enough to see the the back to back. College football was a win win situation for players and schools. I think schools will be fine in new model, but players are going to give up great education for a few thousand bucks and a shiny car and a dream of NFL money that only happens for 1 percent.

Somebody got on Outkick or one of the other douche sites with one of these threads on here last year. Was that you?

Didn't watch a second of the game. Felt good going to bed early and content on everything else that happened yesterday. Was a great day for America!

Been talked a bunch already but Imagine the pain and destruction that loss to Michigan would have caused OSU if this season happened any other year.
Day is fired, probably multiple murders in Columbus.
Now, that game, "The Game", didnt matter.
Clown world

In what format would have a ND team that lost to Northern Illinois have gotten in?
Posted on 1/21/25 at 7:25 am to Peter Buck
Could see them getting in the 4 playoff team version during some years. Loss happened so early and they get the Notre Dame bump. Would depend on the other teams in each year I guess

Ohio State this year was like the 2007 UGA team.

They wouldn’t have but considering they beat the SEC champion it’s hard to say they didn’t deserve to be there. They win their games when it mattered and we didn’t. It’s sucks but that’s the truth.
In fact, there are a few prior UGA teams that would’ve benefitted from this same format but were excluded due to a process that was largely a popularity contest.
