He handled himself like a bitch, if that's what you're asking.

Kirby always has an affinity to Fromm when he got him to decommit from Bama.

Also, Fromm was fresh of a Natty and Fields was a freshman still learning the playbook. He was pretty subpar at reads and progressions and I doubt Kirby thought Fields would transfer as a freshman.

Fields himself never claimed this and even admitted after a month at OSU he contemplated transferring back to UGA because he was homesick.

Stop making shite up.

Correct. Fields specifically said there was no problem with UGA. His attorney was spreading other rumors.

Exactly. Put a sock in it. It's been nearly 2 years. The offense wasn't in his skill set until this year, he wasn't ever going to be more than a 3 year guy wherever he played, and he wasn't going to sit behind Fromm for 2 of those years. Maybe he and his helicopter daddy should have been more honest with Kirby Smart.

And since attorneys are retained to speak on behalf of their clients....yeah, he kinda did say that.

And if he hadn't bailed on his original school, Fields would have been playing for Penn State.

No. Attorneys are hired to act in the best interests of their clients. They can say or do anything as long as it is legal.

There was some discontent in the locker room and some even spilled onto the field during games. After Fields and a few malcontents left things were better.

Fabricating a story or a narrative your client doesn’t agree with or approve is a fairly serious ethical violation.

Yes, it sucks. We would loved to have had things turn out differently.

But it's so far in the past now and there's nothing more to say.

Fields and Tom Mars should both be banned from campus for life. Kirby letting Fields come to a practice this fall was incredibly dumb.

Because Kirby wanted to keep both fields and Fromm. He just wasn’t ready for the NCAA to create a new precedent. Classic uga bad luck.

I am pretty sure Mars has stated he won’t tell anyone what the basis for their case was. But what we do know is a dying relative who is hours away isn’t grounds for immediate eligibility. (Luke Ford). So what sort of hardship or situation existed which warranted immediate eligibility. You might think it’s because he was sitting on the bench, but even Pablo Fields has acknowledged that is a tough choice picking between an experienced starter and a super talented future star.

That leaves a couple of other bases for eligibility — 1. Hardship based on the baseball player event, 2. he was lied to by Coach Smart et al, 3. he was given impermissible benefits as part of his recruiting process and agreed to be a whistleblower, or 4. everyone was replaced with lizard people.

Or, I guess, we can just assume the NCAA just decided to do it “just because” in this situation and Mars gets paid a lot of money to throw darts at a dartboard.

FWIW, I don’t blame Fields for not feeling comfortable joining the UGA baseball team and staying here after what happened. But it is also the simplest explanation for immediate eligibility, isn’t wholly contradicted by the statement Fields put out because it can be couched as a personal feeling related to a single player and not the institution, and the refusal to state the grounds for seeking immediate eligibility is a sign the bases is something hinky or something covered in some confidential settlement agreement.

And, as someone who was at the LSU game, I would have played Fields starting then. He didn’t look great against Auburn, but we needed a spark and it would have been a spark. Fields would have ultimately been wasted in last year’s offense and done well in Monken’s system.

They represent their clients, and act in their stead in dealing with courts/arbitrations/mediations, or in negotiations, etc.

They *can*, yes, but any attorney who says things that their client disagrees with will quickly find himself without a client.

Go easy on Tom; he’s a classmate of mine.

But can anyone figure out who this waxedpython is? I could almost swear he’s been posting on this board before.
