From last year against SEC teams? It's ALL speculation. You really think there's enough "data" to think he would had a better year than Fromm in '18? :rotflmao

Your comparison for Baltimore is fricking satire. Why would they keep the same offense that was under Flacco when he isn't there dumb arse they were forced to mold to Lamar bc that's all they had and they did it. Your essentially saying we should have changed the whole offense to suit a benched back up QB who wasn't starting and FYI Fromm was and is still there. Ravens aren't doing what they are now if Flacco is still there.

Fields is also benefiting from probably the most talented overall roster in college football - even more than Georgia or Alabama. Athletically, they have over-matched their opponents more than probably anyone in the country other than Clemson.

The only team they've faced this year that's even been competitive, Penn State, was due to Fields fumbling the ball twice which kept them in the game. That's the only reason that game was as close as it was.

Look, he's done a fine job with the Buckeyes but let's not pretend that he would have the same numbers at UGA.

They made their QB change last year when Flacco was still on the roster, dumbass. Flacco was sucking so they changed QBs and revamped their offense midseason. They traded Flacco after the season and fine tuned their offense to even better fit Jackson's skillset and now they look like the best team in the league.

The point was their coaching staff molded their offense to fit their QB's skillset instead of trying to fit their QB in a certain offensive system.

They didn't willfully make the change Flacco got hurt which forced them to use Lamar. Who went on to have a 6-1 record. Its the exact same thing that happened to Jacob Eason and Jake Fromm. There is no comparison. If Fromm went down and Fields came in and showed out like Lamar. The next year there would be the the possibility of UGA molding an offense to Fields. There is no real scenario that even remotely would make UGA change their offense for a bench rider other than a Fromm injury which is what happend to Lamar.

He was never given a fair chance on the football field to win the job, so he left as any reasonable qb would have done. Ohio st and all of our opponents thank Kirby for his short sighted and gutless decision.

A player doesn't get the chance on the football field if he can't excel on the practice field. Kirby has given many a backup a starting slot if he beats out the starter on the practice field. Fields is an excellent QB, but if the coaching staff didn't see it in practice, then he was a backup in the game.

That is BS and you know it. This is the nonsense narrative Fromm apologists run with. It is no different than the “he doesn’t fit our offense” crap. Smart would have never recruited him if that were the case.

Of course we do. You can't write in stat lines, but there is plenty of data to extrapolate from.

There are literally dozens of examples of players that everybody just knew was going to kill it at their new schools/teams and did not do well.

When someone goes to a new school, scheme, coaches etc you might think you know how they would do, but no...you do not know.

We can also go down the list of highly rated recruits that everyone knew would do great at their chosen school that never panned out. You can insist all you want that you "know" Fields would have done great here, but if he had truly been doing great he would have been starting.
People who think Kirby is going to put his multi million dollar job on the line by not playing the best players is ludicrous.

Wait. You guys insist that you know Fields would have killed it here at Georgia based on nothing is completely logical, but our insistence that Kirby is not going to put his multimillion dollar job on the line by playing favorites is BS?

Makes. Perfect. Sense.

You might have benched him during the LSU game. I can see that.
Would you have kept him benched going forward? Depends right? Depends on what they show in practice? If they have a firm grasp of the offense, etc, right?

You got it arse backwards. We just went through this with foo, and you seemingly missed all of it. No one is blaming Fromm for all of our offensive issues. Everyone else is talking about fromm’s misses on open passes.

go with that narrative you have to believe Fields gets us there and then outplays the Heisman trophy winner (like Fromm did)

Fromm was on fire for 35 minutes vs bama, and then did nothing after that. It’s not impossible to imagine that fields has a more productive 60 minutes though. A passer rating of 155 isn’t some impossible feat, and adding a dual threat can take that to another level.

14 pt favorite and a team that was considered one of the greatest CFB teams ever up until that point.

Imagine if this Clemson team never gave Lawrence a fair shot on the field vs the qb who led them to the 2017 playoffs. What a mistake that would have been.

IMO, it was Smart's worst in-game decision to date. When things are all going wrong, you have to change something. It might not have worked, but the status quo was a certain disaster.
That could be argued, sure, but on the other hand, there's something to say with sticking with someone who has come through for you in the past. I thought Fromm struggled in the first half of the season because of his having to share snaps with Fields, taking him out of rhythm. I believe he even said something to that effect in some interview last season or in the off-season, don't recall when. It wouldn't have helped him out to lose the confidence of his head coach. CKS stuck with him and Fromm played very, very well to finish the regular season.

It wasn't actually a choice if he wanted to be in the NFL by 2021 (which he will be barring some sort of injury or other disaster)
There was certainly a choice. He thought he was good enough to unseat Fromm before playing a snap in a real college game, and if he was really as good as he thought (and maybe actually is), then he could've gotten another off-season to refine what he was doing (he had a lot of tape on himself) and come out and win the job and then he'd be the starting QB for UGA instead of tOSU. Granted, I doubt he would've been as successful here as there, but he still could be on track to declare for the 2021 draft.

This implies fields was struggling in practice, which can’t be proven either way.

This also ignores Kirby giving fields legit PT in easy games that Fromm started hot in, which goes against your theory. We saw what fields did in those games, which was awesome.

Even if he didn’t kick arse in practice, some players are gamers and elevate their game on the field.

Kirby didn’t even want to risk letting fields outplay a slow starting Fromm, so he didn’t even give him a fair chance to do so on the field. Dabo didn’t make this mistake.

It's logical to say Fields would probably have been effective as a starter, but you can't predict the entire season game for game. Doesn't mean making the switch to a smart, athletic kid with a better arm would have been the wrong choice.

Lawrence is a perfect example. Right now Fields is better when it comes to eye discipline, progressions, and reading defences. Trevor is even now mostly a one read guy, but the coaches gave him every opportunity to develop with plans on eventually making him a starter when the opportunity presented itself.

If CKS had been less risk averse and done likewise the Dawgs would have had a better QB under center right now. Again, Fromm isn't bad, but any objective look tells you Fields is a better player.

Unless he gets hurt, he will be a top 3 pick in that draft. You're intentionally underselling how good he has been this season and how talented he is.
