GurleyGirl, please stop being logical. It’s very offensive to certain people in this thread.

Changing your offensive style affects more than just those players on offense. The defense can suffer from a high-octane offense and that can be off putting for some defensive recruits
This has to be satire. Defenders would love to go play somewhere where they can pin their ears back and go kill the QB because they have a 28-0 lead with 10 min left in the second quarter

We might well have won a NC with Fields as our QB.
So you would've benched a QB who had a top 5 QBR in a '18 and led us to a NC '17 in favor of a Freshman because of what he's doing a year later?
When exactly would you have benched Fromm?
After LSU? He looked pretty damn good the rest of the season and in the SECCG and ended up with 30TD's 6 pics and 2500 yrds
So you would've started Fields over Fromm in the SECCG game vs Bama? Did you watch that game? I mean Saban never really Tua valuable PT til the NC game and had a similar situation.
Yea,I do think the Fields situation was mishandled and never really understood why we were trotting him out there for 1 play at times but to say we woulda won a NC with em last year is somewhat idiotc.

Fromm disappeared in the second half of that game just as he did in the natty. He’s a game manger, and he’s not even doing a good job of that right now

Would have taken a lot of guts, but it would have only been possible if he gave fields a legit chance on the field, which never happened. That was the bad decision.

Well, no one said “would have”, only “might well have”.

I'm not saying we would have won a NC with Fields replacing Fromm last season. I'm saying that we might well have won a NC with Fields at some point in the future.
As for playing time, Fromm has had his chances over the last 2 years and most of this year. He's been good but not good enough. At some point you have to do what Clemson did with Lawrence and what OSU did with Fields and go with the ultra talented Freshmen and hope he develops as well as his measurables suggest. In both cases those gutsy decisions have paid off for their respective teams. Bottom line: when in doubt, go with the more talented/gifted players.

I still do t get what people don’t understand about the fact that all his targets left, and our OC is a retard.

So you would've benched Fromm when? UF?(17/24 3 TD's) SECCG? (25/39 3 TD's) No coach in their right mind starts a Freshman over veteran who's putting up numbers like this.
Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20 and multiple folks on this board thought Fields had issues reading defenses and some wondered if he was have playbook issues as well.Who
knows but I HIGHLY doubt he plays anywhere
close to as good as Fromm did if he takes over as a starter...not in this offense.

If fields looked good against Carolina, mizzou, and tennessee, while Fromm struggled, Fromm may have never started another game for uga after his LSU implosion. Kirby tried to avoid that by never giving fields that chance, naively hoping he could keep both. Didn’t work.

quote:Seems you like to criticize Fromm and say he is playing poorly based on 2 plays, then? That seems odd. We all know those two plays you are referencing were examples you were using and those were not the sum total of your displeasure with Fromm.
Why? For what? On these specific plays I reference, they did what they needed to do and got open, but Fromm missed them. Their inexperience is irrelevant.
I simply pointed out that a lot of Fromm's problems comes from the plays being called and with inexperienced wrs.
You can point to the two or three plays and dismiss my points all you want, but we both understand what is going on here. If the 2-3 plays were all you were talking about then you don't have a leg to stand on in criticizing Fromms year.
You have already admitted in an above post that there are numerous reasons that come into play, so why backtrack and change the narrative now?
Fromm hasn't been as sharp this year as in the past. No doubt and no argument. I have my own theories as to why. The WRs inexperience is only a small part of it, but certainly a significant part.

I'm not saying we would have won a NC with Fields replacing Fromm last season. I'm saying that we might well have won a NC with Fields at some point in the future.
Here is the problem we face at this point.
WE have inexperienced WRs this year and will have inex[erienced and unproven RBs next year. Will it work out and be okay? Maybe, but certainly not a given. Right now Fields is working in a different offensive scheme with proven WRs and proven RBs. Neither he would have here, so to say he probably would win a NC here is a bit of a stretch, at best.
Is it possible? Sure. Is it probable? Hardly.
Do you honestly believe Fields would be doing here what he is doing at Ohio State? That is terribly naïve. Our WRs have to talent and potential to be outstanding, but they are not this year and may not be next year.
Next year we will have a RB coming off two catastrophic injuries and unproven RBs, along with a WR corps missing Cager at least.
I ;love how people point to Lawrence and Fields and talk about how they worked out for their teams, and ignoring that those teams were loaded down with offensive talent. Talent that was realized and experienced. But sure...since it worked out for them then it is a certainty that we would have gotten the same results, right?

Those were 2 major misses, but don’t try to act like they have been his only misses. Coley has dialed up some home run plays lately, and Fromm has struck out on too many of them, though thankfully not all of them.

Probably? So you also misread the part that’s says “might well have”.

So we're going with "ifs" and hypothetical s?
Nobody has any idea what Fields would've done as a starter last year and we know what Fromm did especially against Bama.
Posted on 11/26/19 at 8:33 pm to RD Dawg
Well, yea, because Kirby never gave him a fair shot on the field while Fromm struggled. The only reasonable way to make the switch is when the back up does well while the starter struggles. Kirby didn’t want to risk that happening.

Doesn't "might well have" essentially equal probably?
I mean, if the chances are not good why put it in the post?
"Wow! If Fields were still here we would probably be right where we are now!"
Does that make sense to you? Come on djs. Sometimes you argue just to argue.

Crap. You have some serious reading comprehension problems, I do be,ieve.
'
Fact: I am the one saying that Fromm is partially to blame, but that there are a lot of other factors causing the problems.
Fact: You are the one seemingly trying to pin it squarely on Fromm. Tell you what. You find me aQB in college football or in the pros that never misses a target and I will crown you king and say you clearly are correct. Sure Fromm has missed some. So has every other QB in football. Yes, Fromm has missed more than he normally does. That goes back to him...his receivers, the OC, and a host of other contributing factors. But no. You go ahead and place the blame at Fromms feet and dismiss out of hand that there might be other factors involved.

Of course we do. You can't write in stat lines, but there is plenty of data to extrapolate from.

Whatever but to go with that narrative you have to believe Fields gets us there and then outplays the Heisman trophy winner (like Fromm did) and also beats a
14 pt favorite and a team that was considered one of the greatest CFB teams ever up until that point.
You really want to go with that?
