And the L'ville Cardinals have the nations number one defense. They only two teams they've played are Miami and UVA but who thinks they finish there?

Miami and UVA are 82 and 84 in YPG. They've played two FCS schools...and WFU checking in with a scorching 212 YPG

WTG CTG

First and foremost it's their schedule; they don't play an SEC schedule. 2nd, they already had a loaded defense when Grantham arrived. Louisville was ranked #1 in Total Defense at the end of last season. In other words it has more to do with their talent on defense and light schedule than Todd Grantham.

Charlie Strong's players against virtually non-existent competition will do that. Even Grantham had a good defense here in 2011. Dude can't teach players how to play for shite.

Grantham was definitely a guy that over complicated things, but his biggest problem at UGA was the lack of good players he had on defense due to his inability to identify talent on the recruiting trail. Pruitt is suffering through the repercussions.

Well put, Dave's.

Plus, after a stint a lot of coaches will approach their new job with previous criticism in mind. For all we know he's improved as a coordinator as well as inheriting, I'm sorry to say, a more complete and better unit.

That said grantham is a turd

Absolutely. Grantham is a solid DC and will get only better with experience and then level off per the Peter Principle. But IMHO Grantham was not a good match with UGA due to his angry personality which conflicted with Richt's more benevolent/layed back style. Pruitt in contrast obviously has a lot of respect for CMR and appears to be a better fit.

Well, I think he was also shitty at evaluating and developing talent in addition to giving a playbook that was as this as war and peace to kids who struggle to read where the red fern grows.

There's no chance they stay at No. 1. I would be willing to bet that on average they have played the worst offenses thus far of any FBS team. Not to mention, the cupboard wasn't exactly dry.

Those are some real offensive juggernauts he has played so far. Clemson and Florida State will handle those numbers nicely.
