I’ll be honest, I think we have some concerns at QB if it becomes a shootout with Bama or OSU. Stet is who he is and he works. But if we found ourselves down two scores late, I’d have some doubts. JT didn’t look great. Serviceable, but clearly rusty. Beck? No. Brock? Didn’t really see enough to know.

We’re going to have to win with our defense. If we get into a shoot out with OSU or Bama, we’re fricked, regardless of QB.

Thankfully we’re playing behind an elite defense.

Our offense that bad, eh? Could have sworn we had a top ten offense

I don’t disagree. I think what stands out to me is to win with defense, you’ve got to grind that whole game. On offense, if they manage to get guys behind us just a few times, we could be screwed. And let’s face it; we’ve seen a few times where receivers have been able to do this to us and others where they had us and either dropped the ball or the throw was just off. I worry less about Young doing it than Stroud. I think we can collapse the pocket on Young and make him uncomfortable. His reluctance to use his legs should play in our favor.

60 points against GT and we'll have averaged 42 points a game during the regular season.

Tall QB's get passes tipped too. It happens.

I lived in Colorado when the Broncos had a QB that was 6'7 he had tipped passes at LOS every week. Can't remember his name, got a huge contact at Houston was never worth a damn. The tipped passes were obviously on him telegraphing or long release. Not always the case but I don't buy just because an int was tipped its not on the QB

Perhaps in scoring which the D has played a big part. We are no where near top 10 rushing offense and passing offense is close to 60th. Alabama and OSU just had QBs throw for 400 and 500 yards. Our QB passes for 160yds. But we have a historically great Defense. Hopefully that's enough.

We do by advanced metrics, but that playing our style of O rather than what Bama or OSU could force us to do.

The Alabama QB had to keep throwing the whole game because they were not able to run it well and they were always close in score. Against that same team, we scored 5 less points and pretty much shut it down after halftime. We scored the same amount of points in the first half. The difference being, we were 4 scores up and Bama was 2 scores up.

I couldnt disagree with you more.

If we are in a shootout, we can win with either QB.

If a team can pass rush with 3 or 4, then we will have a bad day throwing. But a bad day throwing will still be 225 yards in the air. The question will be if we can convert in the red zone. Im less optimitic. But we havent had elite play at WR and we havent used our height in Washington yet.

Watching the OSU/Bama games from last week, both Stroud and Young had tons of time for the majority of their throws.
Neither Spartans or Hogs have a defense that is even close to ours.
And our offense may not be sexy, but it sure as hell is effective.

Arkansas rushed 3 and got beat a lot in zone holes and sometimes after 5 plus seconds and scrambling.
We should be putting more pressure on them. Not saying we will stop them, but we will have more pressure

We can win in a shoot out if we’ve worn their defense down enough.

We wear their defense down by keeping them on the field. By playing great defense

So just watching the game. JT still seems pretty padded up around his abdomen and sides.

Maybe shootout isn't the right term. I'm thinking about a situation wherein we are playing from behind, possibly most of the game. What happened to Florida in our game. What happened in 2017 in Auburn, part 1. It only takes a couple of plays to break the score open a bit and my concern is if we have to play catch up with an offense like OSU. Don't get me wrong, I think our pressure on their QB is going to make a difference, but don't think they won't be planning for it. If they have any early success or we make any major mistakes, it can change the way we approach each series quickly. That said, I'm a lot less worried if Pickens and Blaylock are back and if we find a way to get DW0 more involved (but I don't expect to see much difference regarding the latter).

Ummm, what? We completed 7 passes for 72 yards (only 1 explosive).

Our offense had 3 field goals and 2 punts in 8 true possessions (taking ouy the end of half). Arkansas' shell defense worked. We only scored 30 offensive points in 36 minutes of possession. Our ground game struggled to find explosives as well.

I was speaking about Bama vs Arkansas. We got up by 4 scores and shortened the game. It’s kinda our thing.

Clemson played that same shell against us. Forcing us to play underneath shortens the game. It is a byproduct of a non-explosive offense. The question is scoring field goals or touch downs when given the chance.

Stetson can win us a natty.
But his (and JTs) biggest struggles are against a defense dropping 7 or 8 into coverage and someone on the 3 or 4 man pass rush getting penetration.

You don’t need explosive plays when you are getting 1st downs and are winning by 4 scores
