Has any team played two different teams twice in the same season?

There are plenty of cases where a team plays the same team twice, usually a championship game and then during the regular season. Has there also be a case where they also played an OOC opponent in the bowl game? In theory, if we win the East, LSU wins the West and we play Clempson again in our bowl game, then we'll have done it. Just wondering if it's happened before.

Good question. I don't think it has happened because it would have to have occured since 1992 when the conference title games first started.
I think if it happened in that range I'd remember it. Would be very weird for sure.

Well, I don't want either Clemson or LSU again this season. I want Bammer in the SECCG. We owe them for last year.

Florida and FSU did it in the 90s.
Yep! Just found it to support my claim in WIKIPEDIA.

For national championship implications, 1996 was the high point of the series. Both teams were undefeated and ranked No. 1 (UF) and No. 2 (FSU) coming into their regular season finale in Tallahassee, where the Seminoles won a hard-fought contest 24–21. However, the season belonged to Florida, as their 52–20 win in a Sugar Bowl rematch gave them their first national title.

Ok...so, where is the 2nd DIFFERENT team that either of those teams played twice that same season.
The described scenario is having 4 games in one season against only 2 different teams.
In our case, if we played LSU in the SEC championship game, then played Clemson in a bowl game, we would have played LSU x 2 and Clemson x 2 in the same football season.

It would also mean that nearly 50% of our entire season was against "the Tigers". LSUx2, Clemsonx2, Auburn, & Missouri. 6 out of 14 games.

I think we could take LSU and/or Clemson in a rematch. Not that I want reality to force me to back that up with facts, but faith alone compels me to say so.

I want Bama, mainly because I'm tired of hearing from people that we can't beat them and also because of what happened last year. The storybook ending lies with the Tide.
I hate that, because I'd really like to be able to pull for LSU against them.
