The Mexicans finished out the planks today. On the edge, the last plank has about a half inch of overhang. Pressure treated pine 1 by 6 boards. Rhodedawg, is that too much or is that acceptable?

From the bottom looking up at the overhang, it's actually a little less than a half inch.

The numbers told us this was true.

Great detail with the saw too.

I saw your foundation on the OB.

I'm gonna make 2 assumptions:
1) that spot on the foundation wall is on your front wall (opposite where this deck is being built).
2) your lot slopes from front to back.

Being around the building business my entire life I've seen 1 (ONE) foundation that was properly set.

Pour footers and install French drains at outside perimeter of footings.

Form and pour foundation walls.

Waterproof footers with a waterproofer that's like tar that you roll on.

Break or snap all form ties then fill those divots with waterproofing then either use a membrane or paint on the tar then adhere foam insulation panels to the outside of the waterproofing (although that insulation may only be for northern climates up here).

You should be able to see black waterproofing just barely above grade on your outer foundation walls if it was done properly. I doubt it was.

In any event I wouldn't worry about it, would take years for major water infiltration. Foundations can sometimes crack as they settle. There's rebar in those walls they're not moving far in the next 100 years.

We're almost done. The Mexicans missed a couple spots on the underside and will need to come back.

As soon as another sunny Saturday pops up in the forecast, the tiller is being rented from Sunbelt and fescue blend is going in the ground. After a season of seeing where grass will and will not grow back there due to shade, I will replace with zeon zoysia. That's the idea, anyway.

Backyard tilled and seeded.

Sand in front yard is starting to yield some bermuda.

We put sand in front yard on spots and it doesn't appear to be helping the thin spots. Thinking I need to mix in top soil with the sand.
I also think the clay is to compacted. I have a side yard that I can't get the bermuda to grow on.

in my case the sand was just to fill in low spots where the underlying grass was completely healthy.

With Monteg on the Trump Train seemed like the end of days are upon us so I added a Panic Room to the CG Estate house. You can see the fine concrete block work in this pic. A bit upset tho as the county PVA has doubled my property value to 500 dollars so I expect a big jump in property taxes that should reach 2 digits.

19 days later... I've had to go back over and reseed some spots but it's coming in pretty thick.

Mowed grass/baled hay yesterday and today. Some of my heirloom tomatoes are splitting. May have to cover the plants with lawn bags if this lasts another week.

I guess it could be worse. Friend of mine in Jacksonville told me it "reminded him of that book...The Road.

I have to agree, that book is one of the most depressing books I have ever read.

Isn’t it ok for rain after you’ve baled it? UGA ag school best practice is to cover it after it is baled. You can get more money for it too.

All for nothing.

It’s all getting dug up for septic tank service and they’ll need to drive tractor over Bermuda to do it. In the rain, everything muddy. My heart is broken.

Does it say on the bag what kind of grass is in that southern blend?
That came in pretty good
