Bama really doesn't have much defense.

Our defense vs good offenses didn't hold up well. No college defense is defending either of these offenses successfully

We led for most of the game and it was a 3 point game going into the 4th quarter. Late turnovers that resulted in TDs were the difference. It was closer than the final score.

It absolutely was and all of that was with a QB who would struggle to start at Vandy....or Morehouse for that. It doesn't make a difference though...given what this season presented with COVID it may well be the best coaching Smart has done to date at UGA. The results are about what they have been. Maybe next year....

Kiry and the Dawgs have peaked, and started to slide a bit. Now, I'm not saying he can't right the ship, but I am saying he better get control of his ship soon, or he will be in the market for another job. You guys can shite all over me if you want, but UGA is NOT going to give Kirby 15 years to win the big game. Nor am I.

gulf, if Kirby continues to recruit the way he has (top 5 every season), then I'm guess he will be here for 15+ years even if we don't win a NC.
But my guess is he will win one at least after Saban retires which I think will be in the next 5 years.

Losing fields, fromm early, and newman are an indicator that the program is sliding?

Lol

His best years are already behind him, at 45 with 5 years of head coaching experience.

If only there was a 5 star QB on the roster who could resuscitate us!

Exactly. Something positive to look at is that even though Fromm left early with no good backup, and with Newman being brought in and then skipping town, CKS still went after Daniels and he turned out to be a great pickup. He just couldn't help us out until it was too late.

Yep, Kirby made the best of a tough unlikely situation.
We had a decent season all things considered and won our bowl game in dramatic fashion against a very good Cincinnati team.

Coach Smart is an outstanding recruiter, and defensive coordinator, but hasn't proven to be a great head coach, yet. With the exception of Oklahoma, he hasn't beaten a team with equal or more talent. However, 2021 could be the Year of the Dog if Georgia wins on 9/4/21....a loss probably means Outback Bowl. I was a Dog before Kirby arrived, and I'll be a Dog long after he's gone. GO DOGS!

I certainly hope so. But, you guys have to know that the pressure will continue to rise if Kirby's teams continue to come up short of even making the CFP.

No, but losing against Carolina in 2019, and blowout loses to LSU, Bama, and UF are.

Agree with everything in your post. Been a Dawg fan since 1968, and nothing will change that other than death. So far, Kirby has out recruited his coaching abilities. Yes, the QB situation has a lot to do with a good deal of the recent struggles, but giving up 40 plus to any team isn't a good thing.

Georgia will have more depth at the RB and WR positions than any other collegiate team in America in 2021. The offensive line will be suspect, but the defense will reload and be more talented as the 2019 and '20 squads were. The game in Charlotte, North Carolina, on 9/4/21, gonna be biggest game of 2021 regular season.

Bad loss. Fired the OC. We had a QB who needed a safety outlet (cager) and couldnt lead without it. And a defense that couldnt stop opponents on 1st and 2nd down to get off the field on 3rd and 4th (no jordan davis). Maybe our defense is too scheme specific for having Davis out there.

blowout loses to LSU,

Blowouts to the national champion are common. Even by very good teams.

Bama, and UF

We are back to the QB situation. The best way to not get blown out... control the ball and dont give it right back to the opponent (almost half of it is on the offense and number of defensive series). If given reps, offenses will wear down any defense. Our offense does the same. Shorten the game against Bama and we dont get blown out in the 4th. Give them more series, and the score gets worse.

Our stacked recruiting classes began in 2018. We have just now in 2020 begun to see the fruits of those endeavors as upperclassmen. I dont see a slide.
