He's not going to look over the middle for his first read.
It was 1v1 in the slot (vs a LB I believe, but I'll have to check). He went there automatically because they were sending so many. I believe he may be coached to do that. Against that blitz that middle read was open and a TD before the Landers play. No way they had someone in position to make the tackle.
Either way he rushed the throw. Not shitting on the kid. There was just a better play to be made, but it worked out in the end.
