Bear with me a moment:

-according to my sources (aka dorks with youtube channels broadcasting from spare bedrooms), the ACC’s days are numbered

-apparently, there is fine print language in some rancid bill thats supposed to save college football coming out of the swamp that limits conferences to 19 teams total

-and apparently theres three acc teams that arent too pleased with the deadline on when expansion can hit 19 as evidenced by their scum swamp lobbyist’s actions on the topic

- translation: UNC, Clemson, and Miami tipped their hand. They want into one of the big two conferences. SEC or Big10

-not sure why FL state isnt scheming

-Math: if 19 is the cap, that means that the SEc can take 3 more and Big10 can take one

-i feel like UNC is already a done deal to the SEC eventually

-will be hilarious if Tech gets left out without a conference, but also, id like to see them back in the SEC. We play them every year anyway.

- i kind of dont care about the topic anymore after typing so much but

-would you like to see ga tech back in the sec?

I want to see contraction, not expansion, but if expansion it is, GT has to be way down the list. They don't bring anything.

I get it. I’m an unreconstructed contractionist myself

But we all saw Mike slive surrender at Appomattox years ago and know that nothing ever gets tucked back in the bottle

It’s a Lost Cause

-we play tech every year anyway
-would add new dimension watching nerds try to run a 8 game SEC gauntlet

Maybe having a glass of water between drinks might help. This humidity is crazy

I remember when the GT was a big, big deal. The younger fans just don't understand.

Still, revenue is what will be the deciding factor, and GT falls way short there compared to several other teams.

Why do random front line college football fans all sound like they’re doing the bidding of the corporate fiends that have ruined this thing??

Why do you give a shite about “revenue”?

I want regional identity and hate wars between us. That’s what it’s built on

Not revenue

The people who get a vote care about the revenue.

This is the only logical response to your question. Playing a non-conf game agains GT every season is counterproductive for UGA football. It's so counterproductive that if we had that choice, anyone who'd rather continue to waste our only non-conference P4 game of the year on GT is an idiot. Either let them in or shut this annual "rivalry" down, IMO.

I believe the B1G is holding their spot in that scenario for Notre Dame.

The big concern before NIL Wild West was the B1G having schools in the southern recruiting ground. If rules are enforced in the future, we don’t want them in Atlanta, Miami, or the Carolinas.

I do not agree with dropping the GT game. That’s ludicrous.

If I had to pick the 3 additions, they would be UNC, Clemson, Georgia Tech.

Big 12 can also add 3 teams.

Stanford and Cal could join the new PAC 12.

What would the remaining ACC teams do? Who knows?

We have 3 non-SEC games. We are not going to schedule two of them for Power conference teams most years. Plus, some years our conference schedule will be predictably very difficult and it would advantageous to add an easier mid-season opponent to break up the SEC grind. Nobody is going to make a brutal nine game conference schedule more difficult than it has to be; it damages your chances of making the playoffs and thus your football program. So we limit our schedule and our flexibility by playing GT every year. It locks up the last game of the season, thus compressing our conference schedule into tighter mid-season windows which may be contributing to the high number of post-bye week SEC opponents we're facing (double the league average for the last 2 years and this year). It decreases our number of home games (which is already reduced because of the UF game) and/or our national exposure. And it gives financial support to an in-state opponent which considers us their #1 rival and will use it to recruit against us.

All of that is ludicrous, Ideally we would just stop playing GT, but if that's unacceptable then we would be much better off playing them as one of our three annual conference games. It would be phenomenally stupid to vote no on both those options(drop or admit). Letting them join the SEC probably wouldn't pass anyway, because our SEC rivals are happy that we choose to damage ourselves by playing GT as a non-conf game. In this current competitive NIL/TP environment, UGA's home-state recruiting advantage is being drastically reduced. Other teams are targeting this state and our program with their money. Now that we've gone to nine SEC games, if the people in charge of UGA's football program can't look past "tradition" and see the negative consequences of an annual home/away non-conference GT game, UGA football is headed for a long decline.

Remember how long it took you to accept NIL is just pay for play funded by the school itself? You had to drop the outdated info to see it clearly. Realignment is the same. The best part is watching SEC fold to the Big10

The 9th conference game was so assinine.

College football can't get out of its own way

Remember how long it takes you every season to accept GT is going to lose to UGA? Unlike your annual misjudgment, the consequences of NIL were obvious from the outset.
