You won’t understand

But it’s like pulling a temporary e-relief valve on the grim sad realities of this clown world.

We (understandably) gave up on him. I don’t think it’s unfair for him start to look elsewhere for the rest of his career.
He can be in the portal and still stay with the team,no?

He isn't an SEC caliber QB. What makes you think Florida would even want him?

Unless he is actually giving up on football, leaving before the season is over just makes him appear like an ungrateful child.

UGA spent at least six figures on brain surgery and the associated rehab that goes along with it and gave him a scholarship. If he ends up in th transfer portal before the season ends after all of that, then that’s just selfish.

The kids had played one whole game in his career. We don't yet know what he is.

And looked like he never played QB in his life with a 14.4 QBR. Seen enough to know he had no business starting for a D1 team expected to be competive in the SEC.

Nope. His body language on the side lines tells all. It would have been a different story on his behalf if he wasn't so bad.

Bennett was flat out better than Mathis. JT is in a different class altogether.

I'm sure that after Mathis saw what Daniels could do in his first game back in 15 months - and with Beck on the roster and Vandagriff inbound - Mathis figured, "No reason to delay my relocation."

Wait. Dantonio was? Did I sleep through something?

He was committed to Ohio State when he flipped to us. (Mathis)

I believe the NCAA’s stance is still to grant immediate eligibility for any transfer this season (could be wrong about this). So if he finds a place to land this season then he’ll be guaranteed to be eligible for the next season.

I harbor no ill will towards the kid and I hope he finds a good landing spot. He had his shot and it didn’t work out, he’s sliding down the depth chart, and he needs to do what’s best for him. I can’t fault a kid for that.

The kid is probably a fantastic athlete (Mathis). He just is not a QB at this level. He also obviously has entitlement issues based on his sideline behavior and his demeanor when given mop up duty late in a game. I understand everyone wants to play. But...do you get sullen and look like a bitch or do you work harder to try and earn it?

I wish him well wherever he goes. He will need to change positions unless he goes down to FCS.

I dont understand the ncaa eligibility issues. Reese tried to make a stink about how staying midseason was against his best interest. Maybe reese was right (because the ncaa rules are so fricked up). Maybe kirby told him to go ahead and jet now for his own interest (assuming he is last on depth chart behind Bennett and Beck).

I hope for good things for Mathis. I dont have a problem with Kirby bringing in talent and the talent sorting itself out.

Pretty much my perspective; you just never know if a particular recruit is going to pan out especially with out of state recruits like Mathis. Plus his circumstances are highly unusual having had brain surgery. My guess is he wants to get closer to home in Michigan and to be honest I don't expect him to have a career in football. As I have said several times: life after brain surgery is serious business. He should focus on getting his college degree and think about a future other than football.
