If we played them 5 times, my guess is we would win once. So I say we have about a 20% chance.

We have a freshman QB, our OL isn't quite championship caliber...and Alabama has been stacking 5* players for years.

Anything can happen in CFB. Kirby has the team focused on the game in front of them. Great trait he learned from Saban. We have the talent to beat anybody in the country. But there are intangibles like luck, injuries, refs, etc. that can work one way or another. There are about 8 teams right now that have an opportunity to win it all. But we absolutely are capable of beating Bama. We need to focus on USCe first.

He doesn't know every detail then, because Alabama returns a crap load off of this team, while we lose a crap load. Yes, we will reload at RB, but Oline, LB, DL will take big hits. We should still be very good, but Alabama will bring back more proven talent than we will.

You do know how many points we are averaging a game, right? Nobody is going to call a game the way everybody wants them too. I really don't have a problem at all with Chaney. I also realize the first game we lose will be squarely pinned on him since many on this board don't like him, though.

We can beat them. We can beat anybody. That is why we are ranked #1 in the country right now.

Your family member doesn't really know what he's talking about IMO. Our offense should be just as good next year but our defense will likely take a big step back. We will definitely lose Atkins, Lorenzo, Bellamy, Reggie Carter, Parish, Sanders, and Aaron Davis. Depending on draft status could also lose Roquan and Trent. I have the utmost faith in Kirby but I don't see any way we lose all THAT and not skip a beat on defense.

This year is as prime as any to beat bama. If not this year, it'll probably be '19 if I had to guess.

We don't have to not skip a beat, really. We just have to still be really good.

The talent level in general is improving, so that helps. LeCounte and Gibbs are more gifted than Sanders and Davis, for example. Whether or not they become better players remains to be seen.

Roquan and Trent would be the toughest to replace, obviously.

Probably, but going back to the original point, do you think 2018 lecounte/gibbs will be better than 2017 dom sanders/a davis? On that I would probably say no. But it's a good issue to have.

Can't imagine them no keeping 7-8 in the box at all times. The talent at WRs, TEs, and backs in unison will give a team like Bama coverage problems.

I would disagree. From what I have seen, Alabama does not bring a lot of extra heat on passing downs or rely on stacking the box against anybody. It looks to me like they are very talented and comfortable allowing their front 7 to handle the run game, and rush the passer with 4, allowing them to drop a ton back into coverage. maybe I am wrong, but what little I have seen them, that seems to be what they have done.

Alabama does not allow other teams to dictate how they play. They dictate how other teams play.

Definitely, but what’s the chances look like of getting Trent back next year? Good thing is Natrez Patrick will most likely return so there will be a veteran to help out the youngins. How’s our secondary depth look? JR Reed is a sophomore so he’ll be back and I think McGee will be back, anyone else?

Baker should be back. Depth is pretty solid, at least with young guys. It would be good to sign a freshman corner that could help right away. That would have to be a high level prospect.

It was disturbing to see Florida run the ball up our gut during the second quarter. That could've been because we were up 28 points I think but who knows. I think BAMA will run the ball against us.

Jumping up quick like that is always trouble. I like the slow grind to 21 over the first half rather than the first 7 minutes. I'll take it mind you...but it's too easy for the team to think "oh yeah we got this" and slack off.

How often have you seen a team sneak back in after getting thumped early (Arkansas)?

I didnt say I agreed with him about Mac. Because I think hiring him would be a mistake. But I also respect his opinions.

Agree. In 2019 the new RBs will be in full stride, the 2018 recruits will be much better on O and D, the QB situation will be outstanding.
What a great time to have ND come here as our premier OOC game.

At the beginning of this year,I knew we would have the talent to be good, but I still had the Mark Richt syndrome in my head, hell that's all us fans have had to go on the last 14 years, close, but still no cigar. Kirby has brought a totally new perspective to Athens and this Football team.Respect is the name of the game, and I finally feel like we are getting some of that.We have had a lot of heart breaking memories over the years, but this is our time.Rspecially having this awesome group of Seniors come back for their final year. So to answer your question, you GD right we have more than a chance of beating Alabama!!!
