First post, but I've been reading the board for a while. I haven't seen much discussion about the interior of the DL. Right now I see 5 guys who could be considered defensive tackles; Atkins, Mayes, Thornton, Johnson, Gaillard. I've read Gaillard isn't in shape to play yet, but I don't know that for a fact. Mayes is recovering from a concussion, hopefully this is is his first. I haven't heard Toby Johnson or John Atkins mentioned this summer.

Maybe it's just me, but this doesn't seem like good depth for a 13 or 14 game season. Generally, wherever we're thin seems to be where the injuries happen, and the Georgia Tech game is good for about one crippled D Lineman per year. We do have an excess of OL, so I guess somebody could cross train if necessary. Any thoughts.

We're adapted for the 3-4 so with that in mind I think we have enough.

With that in mind, I don't think it's anything to worry about. Not all the DTs have to be 320. We can put a DE at DT in a 4 down alignment and be fine.

There's also some tweeners like Ray Drew that can put their hand on the ground and still do some damage if need be.

And welcome to the board.

Sterling Bailey
James Deloach

Also, Mayes did have concussion during offseason last year, so if he has one now, it would not be his first.

DeAndre Johnson DT signed in 2013, a 3 star. I assume he's still on the roster somewhere.

Moose Johnson is done for medical reasons. I hate to hear that this is Mayes' 2nd.

This noob comes in and all he gets is "welcome" ....i thought the pimp hand was strong in the golden one

I believe the proper way to welcome you is to ask if you have a wife or girlfriend. And if so, tits or gtfo

My gf is a beautiful lady (outpunted my coverage to use a football cliche), but in the interest of my domestic tranquility you'll have to settle for the variety of other offerings around the internet.

I remember when I was about 15, a shy kid from the country, I went to visit my cousin about my age who lived in the big city. We went down to the park to hang out with some of his friends. First guy walked up, my cousin introduced us, and the kid said, with a disapproving look, "You're a dumb shite country hick".

I just stared in amazement, not sure how to respond to that. The kid turned and walked away without saying another word and my cousin said under his breath, "Say something!" So I yelled after him, "Kiss my arse", but he just kept walking away. I guess I failed the hazing ritual; never was one of the cool kids.

Having said all that, kiss my arse.

We actually don't want anyone that big. Pruitt wants our noses playing at around 290 or so. We're going to run multiple fronts and they're not designed to occupy space and take up linemen. They're designed to get up field.

HECK no. I'm a sweetheart.

I only get bent out of shape when tech maggots on here start a troll thread for no good reason.

Other than that, I am the salt of the Earth.

You wasted a lot of space to say nothing at all. You need to step your game up. You're not worthy of a witty response at this point.

Talking like that and you expect us to believe you? Be careful not to poke her too hard or she may fly out the window.

I'm afraid I'll never fit in now. My cousin never did introduce me to any more of his city friends.

That's a good strategy for some teams, but not all. I remember being concerned a few years ago that the middle of Grantham's three man front was too light with DeAngelo Tyson in the middle. I was afraid that Spurrier would try to blow us off the ball and use Lattimore like a hammer, which is exactly what he did. We're better off now, but the 3-4 does occasionally need that big anchor in the middle. I hope Mayes can get healthy and fill that role.
