Apparently didn’t want to compete against Kendrick
The best don't shy away from competition. Sounds like Turnage knew how this battle was going to go and didn't want any part of it. Saves UGA a slot so all good.

He tweeted an hour ago, “relax with the rumors”

"Relax with the rumors" isn't exactly the same as "Ignore the rumors...I'm still on the team."
In any case, it's known that Turnage left Athens after Kendrick's transfer became known and that he spoke to his high school coach about feeling uncomfortable with the situation.
Sounds to me like he was (and maybe still is) worried about playing time with the CB group now including Kendrick with Kimber, Ringo, Speed, Green and Carroll.

I hate this transfer portal thing. But, at least he let Kirby know in time to save that spot for someone else.

We offered a CB from Tulsa that's currently in the portal, so Kirby ain't messing around. We did well with our last transfer in from there (JR Reed).
I'm sure it's contingent on Turnage officially leaving.

I'm hearing good things about Kimber.

That’s who I thought it would be. Tulsa’s other CB in the portal is a 2* guy.

Akayleb Evans sounds like a good pick-up. Here's some backstory from a mid-May article on Rivals. Apparently a bunch of programs were interested.
The [Notre Dame] Irish coaching staff offered Tulsa graduate transfer defensive back Akayleb Evans on Monday night, Evans reported on social media.
Evans, a 6-2, 188-pound corner, was a four-year contributor at Tulsa and has 23 career starts. The McKinney, Texas native has two seasons of eligibility left after he took a medical redshirt in 2019 and gained an extra year when the NCAA awarded one to all 2020 fall athletes. In 30 career games, Evans has 82 tackles, 11 pass breakups and zero interceptions.
Evans started six games as a freshman in 2017 and five more in 2018. He suffered a season-ending shoulder injury after three games (all starts) in 2019. In 2020, he started nine games and notched 29 tackles (1.5 for loss), one sack, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Notre Dame is the latest in a long line of teams to jump in the mix for Evans. Since May 11, he has picked up offers from Nebraska, Washington State, Minnesota, TCU, SMU, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Oregon State, Louisville, Texas Tech and Kansas State.

Just because his name is Turnage doesn't mean he'll take the right turnage

any update on the Turnage situation? Looks like he isn't listed on the official roster. Emerson says this doesn't mean he left the program though.

No Evans or Turnage....hmmm...
Are we saving a spot for someone else? Really could still use a veteran CB.

Is it safe to assume this kid is gone? There hasn't been an update in weeks.

The longer we don't hear anything, the better.
Summer workouts have begun for teams, and he'd only be hurting himself by waiting.

No, it isn't. Pay no attention to people saying otherwise.
Could he still leave? Yes. Is it a foregone conclusion? Far from it.

Last I read on another site he wasn't on the roster and wasn't enrolled in school. Sounds like he's gone to me
