I was at the game last night and can honestly say that was a top 5 UGA sporting event I've ever attended (includes 4 football seasons) and many students I talked to agreed. The energy and exchanging of chants with the UK faithful was something that I've rarely seen at basketball games and this game showed that we CAN build up our basketball program and can have success and excitement in a sport in Athens not named football. As far as the game went, the only thing that I look back on and say that we really hurt ourselves with was free throw shooting. Other than that, we battled, scrapped, got flagrant fouls, but at the end of the day UK's superior size and talent was too much and you have to tip your hat to them for making the plays when they needed to. It's just so hard for us to stop them inside the whole game and they eventually broke us.

Agree on all points. Without Nemi, we get blown out!

I hope last night made an impact for someone - recruits and students. I don't think Fox is an elite coach, but he's a good coach. Find a way to recruit and get students involved like last night and BOOM magic happens. I highly doubt I ever see a UGA basketball national title in my lifetime, but consistency at the top of the conference and regular tournament appearances would make the late winter/early spring parts of the calendar pretty enjoyable. In fact, for all the hand wringing I've done over some of the games this season, I would say without a doubt that I have enjoyed watching this team play and following the program this season.

TL;DR: Life as a fan is fun when your teams are winning.

I disagree Fox is elite X's & O's it's the recruiting that is lacking while partly his fault our lack of tradition and horrible facilities doesn't help.

Can't agree with that. Why did we get away from
our zone defense in the 2nd half? Went to man to man way too much. Why would you do that against a team like UK? Especially when it was so effective in the 1st half.

His strength is definitely X's and O's but I wouldn't say elite

Lack of tradition, sure, but the practice facilities and locker rooms are plush. Stegeman could use some TLC, for sure, but look at places like Rupp, Allen Fieldhouse, and Cameron Indoor. Take away the logos on the court and they'd all be considered dumps.

Zone defense leaves you vulnerable to offensive rebounds. That was the only consistent offense Kentucky got last night for about 35 minutes before Towns finally got going inside.

Some of the offense Georgia ran last night was brilliant. The cuts and back screens to get guys open on the baseline is really good coaching.

Huh?UK wasn't consistent at all on offense when we were running a zone in the 1st half...we were keeping their big men away from the basket. We did just the opposite in the 2nd half and let em post up down low...game completely over when you let UK's big men do that.

It seemed to me like a lot of UK's points early in the game came from second chances and not from running good offense in the halfcourt. Maybe not though
