Interesting. You and Sic em are quick to differentiate yourselves as people that posted both places as opposed to people that bravely broke the chains of GSB oppression, and renounced the GSB to go start e-utopia.

Why is that? Are you saying those types look pretty stupid now and so you don’t want to be lumped in with them?

Jeff, to answer your question, I wasn’t really making a conscious effort to differentiate myself.

I had a feeling the new board wouldn’t float for long because, believe it or not, this wasn’t an unprecedented first. It had been done years before, maybe more than once. It’s never worked out. For any faults it may have, this board is just good. Personally, I much prefer the layout of everything here, but even more, I like the fact that we have plenty of active members. Hard to find elsewhere.

There were several posters who took off to the new board and vowed never to return here, some of which I happened to like. That was my main reasoning in joining there. But there were plenty of people I liked here as well and I had no real beef one way or the other. I have tried to convince a few to return, but I think they choose not to simply because they said they wouldn’t. Principle, I suppose. Others may feel some embarrassment, but I wouldn’t think it would be enough to make them stay away indefinitely.

That’s just my .02

That's funny. I don't remember that one.

I remember vlesports and hoopla.
I remember chuck oliver's attempt at a message board, too.

This was literally a handful of old posters who started this board via some quick website building service. It didn’t get a lot of exposure beyond here.

I don’t remember you giving a shite. It was hilarious for the ones that did though

Chicken assigned a top-level admin to monitor our board, and if anyone mentioned the new e-utopia, it would immediately be deleted. Both sickem and Finley street played in this game to try and tip off other posters about the new outlaw e-tree-fort where cools were amassing.

Anyway, when someone got their post deleted or was given a timeout for trying to promote the new tree fort on here, they’d run back to the tree fort and cuss about how mean and oppressive chicken was and frick GSB anyway dog gone it. And everybody would join in saying frick Chicken and some of them hilariously said he’d go out of business without them. Yet now they’re back on his site as if nothing happened. Too funny.

It was around this time too when I was presented with an offer and given access to the upside/down, but that’s a whole nother chapter. Moo hoo ha ha ha

I never could figure out what magic they were trying to capture on the new board that they couldn’t do here. Like the posts from the same people were supposed to be that much better or something.

I don’t recall, but I’m sure I put it out there for those who cared. But I was not personally invested in the “movement” and, again, I didn’t quit posting here at any point.

Anyway, not sure why it matters nowadays.

Tell me about Chuck Oliver's board.

I knew that motherfricker reads here.

On MORE than one occassion I have made a hot take here, completely unique and unposted elsewhere, and it ended up in his mouth on the radio the next day.

One of the times was when I was talking up Damien Swann moving to safety and everyone, I mean everyone was lambasting me for being a fricking dolt. Next day, Chuck is talking about what a great safety Swann would make, and made all the same points I made.

Another time I know he stole a rantard's post about Petrino. Word for word stole his joke and repeated it on air.

It used to be chuckoliver.net.

The funny thing was... he had a staff.

It didn't last long. I don't think he was able to get enough hits to justify what he was doing (blog, message board, self promotion to his twitter/social media).

I Googled trying to find what it evolved into. It looks like dickey has a southern sports today site hosting his self promotion.

I just thought it might be a fun side gig, especially since merely mentioning it released the fricking gestapo around here. I thought it would be less monitored, which it was, but it was a snoozefest conversationally. Mostly people bitching about who they didn't want to post over there.

ALSO. I am pretty sure rig posted over there too now he's all "ohh I don't know what you're talking about."

It’s also probably why you don’t hear all the chest thumping about how cool “old dawg rant” was anymore like you used to.

The old rant was like a Fields vs Fromm discussion that never ended.

It would have had to been earlier than that. By late 2015 I wouldn't have given a frick.

This would have had to have been pre-2015 if I was gung-ho with it, as Finley alleges.
