Avoid 5 Points after the sun goes down. If you are looking for a great dinner and don’t mind dropping some money, Saluda’s in 5 Points is actually my favorite restaurant in Columbia. If you get a cheese board, 2 entrees, a bottle of wine, and a cocktail/dessert after dinner, be prepared to drop $200-250 or so. Excellent food and service, though. Unfortunately Home Team BBQ won’t be open in time for this game. The first one is down in Charleston and the owner is a UGA grad. It’s really fricking good.

There’s a new place called “J’s Corner” where Jaco’s used to be. Looks nice but I haven’t been yet.

Cottontown Brewlab just opened in my neck of the woods, out North Main St in between Cottontown and Elmwood Park. The owner, or one of the owners, is a UGA guy. River Rat Brewery is also out Shop Rd, close to the stadium. Craft and Draft isn’t a brewery, but they keep 12 different craft beers on tap and they have a lot of bottles and cans in cold cases. The owners, Andrew and Kellen, are diehard Cocks, but they’re really good dudes.

The Vista has gotten really shitty over the past few years. I tend to stay away these days. If fake tanned, obnoxious 40 year old woo-girls and dudes in flat bill caps are your thing, give it a try, though.

Henry’s and Nightcaps on Devine St will always and forever be my go-to bars. Henry’s also has a fricking amazing cheeseburger for lunch/dinner.

If you have questions about a particular part of town or specific type of food, just ask and I’ll give you my opinion.

Stay from 5 pts unless you are a college kid. If you wanna drink go to the vista, it also has the best food. Lunch hitbup Cantina on Main. Also tailgate drop by fairgrounds blue section row 8 spot 76 ask for Mike I'll give y'all a beer.

Is Eddie's Burgers still in downtown COLA? One of the best burgers I ever had. It was near Cromer's peanuts....Two places I visited each time I was in Columbia as a kid.

I don’t get down there at prime time but the Vista is still the primary go to. Pearlz, Liberty, Flying Saucer, Uptown Grille(?) and God knows how many others all within a short walk. That would be my home base.

You can hang out in one of the abandoned warehouses that are nowhere near campus where the stadium is located. Maybe hit the circle K and buy a 12pack and sit in one of the parking lots and see if you can murder someone before they murder you. You can also enter one of the many goatee contests at the local bars or just go to 5 points and play robbed, raped, or murdered in 5 points. It’s a great place.

Where is this?

We're driving straight to the stadium area, so what's around there?

A bunch of manufacturing, a fair grounds, condos and drunk South Carolinians. There’s a lot of space but it’s kind of a shitty place for a stadium because if you want to go anywhere afterward you’re driving.

shite. Well, if we don't go straight in, I won't get parking where I want. Catch 22. Where's the fried chicken joint?

Best thing is to bring a tent and a cooler and get there early and park in the fair grounds. Just pray to God you don’t end up around a bunch of goatee sporters from Goose Creek or say... Florence. Sit there and drink til game time...then after the game sit there another two hours as you aren’t going anywhere... unless we kick the shite out of them, then they will all have left by the 3rd quarter.

The fried chicken joint is about 1/2 a mile past the stadium on Bluff Rd. Bernie’s Chicken, it’s pretty good.

Are you staying in town or just going for the game and then hitting the road? They did open J’s corner, as I said, where Jaco’s used to be, but I bet it will be a god damned zoo before and after the game. There’s really nothing else around the stadium. If you feel like a walk, you could walk just up Rosewood past the train tressle to a place called Peeble’s Wing Shack. It’s also pretty good food and a small bar area. I’m not sure if River Rat even bothers to open on game days, but if they are then you can go there. Their amber ale is good. Other than that, you’re shite out of luck for things around the stadium. The Loose Cockaboose is down the road but that place is fricking terrible.

We're hitting the road when it's over. Don't want to stay around there too long.... . I may try to find Bernie's. Our plan is to park off Shop Rd, where WG suggested in an earlier thread.

I live here and those cautioning you about the area are correct. As for the game, you might consider parking at Colonial Life Arena and taking the shuttle bus to the stadium. Parking there is free and the round trip bus ride is about 5 bucks. Bus drops off and picks up at the entry to the fair grounds. It's a bit of a walk to the stadium but you'll avoid all the game traffic and parking madness. As for stuff to do here, let me just say this, Chick fil-A is considered fine dining.

I have never had an issue leaving WBS. I won't respond to your other nonsense, but it's always been easy as hell to leave the stadium area.

Yeah OP you might want to ask this on the main board or our board if you request access. Crispy is the only one giving you actual advice in here.
