I think home and home is now where it belongs.

If it's not going to be in Jax, it needs to be home and home.

It's all money. The GT game that was supposed to be a home game for GT got sold to MBS, that was really gross. I don't understand the financials behind it all, why MBS paid millions on top of millions to get that game, but they did. ESPN didn't do it. UGA didn't do it. The NCAA didn't do it. A judge didn't do it.
Georgia Tech and MBS did it.
On the surface, it doesn't make sense to me.
I'm told MBS will pay GT more money to host the game there than GT would make hosting the game? Doesn't make sense on the surface.
The cocktail party does make sense, it is traditionally hosted at a neutral site, but since that stadium is under renovation for the next two years, do an ATL and Tampa neutral site in the meantime, it doesn't bother me.

Hate it for all my favorite bars in the dirty Dina. Hate it for SSI and frat beach. Hate it for Jax. However we cannot let these bitches walk in our trap and take over our trap. Dawgs need to have their heads on straight Saturday.

First time not in Amelia this week for a long time. Either needs to be in Jax or Home/Home. Not shitty Benz or Tampa.
Some long road trips next year: Tampa, TX, A&M

gross.
This game NEEDS to be in jacksonville. But if it can't be for whatever brief short term interruption, it definitely needs to be home and home. This retarded money grab that not a single fan asked for or is happy about just underscores how little the decision makers care about fans any more.

Neutral site games this late in NFL stadiums just aren't what they once were.
Playing in Athens is never gross.

The city of Jacksonville will do everything it can to keep the game once the stadium is done! Each school pays 1$ to use the stadium, cuz they gotta pay something! This game alone brings the city around 20-30 million dollars, every year!
In this instance, I wish they would have played it at home and home! Back to Jax after the renovation..

generally yes, but we're talkign about UGA/UF. And it should be played in its rightful home of Jacksonville like it has for the last 90+ years.

I've beaten this drum a few times but it would have kicked arse to have a once in a generation home & home series. Two special games, two special trips, and stories that would live on like the 90s games.
Instead we get another MBS event...it's a nice stadium, but it doesn't have 100 years of history & character like a college stadium.

there's been discussion about moving it to home/home for at least 20 years. I think you have to look at how many premium home games we have. This year we had Auburn and Oklahoma - that's it. Florida would give us another premium home game every other year. The University's get too big a payout to play it in Jacksonville so I'm pretty sure it stays in Jax.

I hope it stays in jacksonville.
If you remove the neutral site, it is just another game in a regular season where a loss means very little.

This 100%
A few years ago Kirby brought up the loss of a weekend to host recruits because they are the “home” team but since it’s not in Athens they can’t host possible recruits.. I believe they started allowing each team if they are the “home” team to host recruits in Jacksonville?

Hosting recruits in Jacksonville was possible other than a handshake agreement between teams.
What would the purpose of using a team visit be when there is no campus to visit (other than paying for the recruit's accomodations)?
It is 1 weekend every other year unavailable to recruits in Athens (i.e. scheduling around high school football, family weddings, academic responsibilities).
If a recruit can't find their way to Athens over a 3 year span, then there are other issues at play in my opinion.

I agree with your opinion!
This was one of Kirby’s complaints about the game a few years ago..

The WLOCP will always be one of the greatest things ever and some of my favorite memories are there.
Making it home-and-home permanently would be awful. Who the hell is clamoring to spend a weekend in Gainesville, Florida? They have a really big sinkhole with a nice nature trail that goes to the bottom, and I'm pretty sure the Oaks Mall is still open, but that's about it.
After the first time that the game was played in Athens, the thrill would wear off. The hype and the stadium atmosphere eventually would just feel like any other random home game against a team that's not very good.

Don't forget the historical marker where Tom Petty's drummer threw up on the sidewalk that one time in 1979.
