Clemson D is what surprised me. I know the DC is good and they recruit OK on that side of the ball, but they were up in Urban's shite all night long. Sniffing out everything. Bulldozing the LOS. Cracking heads in the secondary, flying around all over the place. Aggressive, yet disciplined.

But one thing Clemson has against it.. they are consistently inconsistent.

Also, they aren't going to have a month to plan and practice against Bama, and no time to rest. But same for any team in this situation, including Bama, right?

Bama isn't a team. Bama is a machine.

Ohio State turned the ball over like 14 times.

If you lose the turnover battle, you are probably going to lose to any top 25 team. Lose the turnover battle in the playoffs, you are definitely going to lose.

Clemson isn't going to have as many posessions against Bama. And the posessions they do have are going to be against a stouter defense.

I still think Bama wins.

Washington is better than Clemson. Alabama is your National Champ.

Bama wins a good game.....Ohio State wasn't even conference champs...

What is depressing is two tears in a row to schools 90 minutes east and 3-1/2 hours west of Athens are playing in the title game.......I haven't looked but I bet both of them are loaded with talent from Georgia.

And finally I ain't so sure it is the process at Alabama as it is just pure talent. they make mistakes like any college team....they just out talent everyone. Not every coach would be able to do what Saban has done but the majority of it is recruiting with better than average coaching......

Yeah. It caught me off guard, too. Seemed as if they dominated across the Lines.

Clemson has excellent players and damn good coaching no doubt but I also think that OSU was highly overrated. In fact, based on the bowl results, it appears the entire Big10 was pretty overrated.

Having said that, I think Clemson might beat Alabama by a couple of TD's. Alabama's offense just doesn't have enough innovation to compete with Deshaun Watson. They won't be able to just line up and blow Clemson's defense off the ball and Bama's defense while among the best in the college football, won't be able to contain Watson again just like they couldn't in the matchup last year. Summary: Clemson's defense looks even better than last season and I don't think Bama has enough options on offense to match Clemson score for score like they did last season.

I watched Clemson all year. Last night was a fluke. They lost to Pitt at home, and should have lost two other games.

If Bama D plays like LSU did yesterday they won't have to match them score for score.

To the OP: In big games, especially the biggest games I always look to coaching. Saban gives Bama the edge there.

How can you make that statement? Clemsons beaten 2 teams now ((FSU and OState) that could walk backwards through Washington' schedule. And I don't say that because I think those are undefeatble teams either.

Maybe looking ahead

They've been unstoppable their last 3 games.

Because that's my opinion! Clemson should've lost at least 3 times this year.

Despite Alabama being a better team over the course of the season, I think Clemson is playing with an incredible amount of confidence and I think Watson does enough to win this game. Alabama's defense is unbelievable but Watson can extend plays and has weapons on the outside...they will score some points and I just don't think Hurts and that offense can put up enough. It will be a very good game.

You might be the only person east of the Continental Divide who thinks so. Washington looked like the typical west coast team that gets its arse handed to it nearly every season by an SEC team and Clemson looked like a team that's hungry for a NC. I wouldn't bet against them getting it.

Clemson's got the revenge card in their back pocket so they'll be coming out firing.

Bama's gonna have to be excellent on offense to win this game.

Again, just my opinion. I watched Clemson several times this year and I watched Washington a few times. I saw Clemson beat a severely overrated OSU last night and I saw Washington hang with Bama for a half. The D touchdown for Bama changed that game.

Washington had a pretty good season. Beat Stanford, Oregon, and Cal like rented mules. Lost to USC by 2 TD's. My guess is, if they'd played our schedule, they'd have 2 losses. Washington earned a birth but failed the test. Then again, so did OSU.

What 2 teams on our schedule would've beaten them? I think they would've been the undefeated East Champ if they played our schedule.
