Kirby said we are burning the boats and not going back. 1980 boat=burned.

Everybody gets one play to burn and erase.

I’m burning:
2013 Miracle tip at Auburn- Was in the stand, it had been a great game and day..then that.

One of the oddest years in UGA football history..barely lost to Clemson, OT wins vs Tech and UT. Beat UF but lost to Mizz and maybe the most miserable UGA I have ever been to losing at Vandy at like 10 in the morning on a dreary day.

There are better plays and seasons to burn but I want that one gone. They didn’t deserve it.

I’m burning 2 & 26. Both these NC teams under Smart were sensational.

Same. One blown coverage away from having 2 in 5 years and the start of a dynasty.

I think we get 3 in 6 now. Counting this one.

I’m burning AM’s completion to Conley to end the 2012 SECCG. That team and CMR deserved that win.

Yup this one used to hurt. Every time I saw it I would have to turn my head. Now I could Probly watch it on repeat and not care. After that it would be Aaron Murray to Chris Conley in the 2012 seccg. Then “the prayer at Jordan hare” god I hate auburn and their stupid fans so much.

Edit: since all these have already been burned im burning the josh Dobbs pass to beat us at home. I will not call it what the UT people call it tho.

Burning the sneaking fear that Kirby might end up Richt 2.0, with recruiting wins but nothing substantial to show for it.

Burning the upside ceiling of 10-2 regular seasons, with a Sugar Bowl/NY6 consolation prize when someone else in the SEC (Bama) makes the CFP.

Burning jealousy of some other team's Heisman QB leading them to the Promised Land.

For those not familiar - the analogy comes from the conquest of the Azteca by Hernan Cortes.

It's how a newcomer to the scene defeated an established empire.

quote:

Montezuma's messengers returned to the emperor with the terrifying reports of their encounter with the Spainards: their guns, horses, dogs and their lust for gold. Montezuma was paralyzed by their tales, and by the possibility that Cortés was the returning Quetzalcoatl, "the feathered serpent," an exiled deity who vowed to return one day to claim his kingdom.

Cortés, meanwhile, weighed his options. He had not yet seen the magical city of Tenochtitlán, but he knew it was there, 200 miles away. He faced imprisonment or death for defying the governor if he returned to Cuba. His only alternative was to conquer and settle part of the land. To do this, he prompted his supporters to install a municipal and resigned from the post conferred on him by Velásquez. The legally-constituted "town council of Villa Rica" then offered him the post of captain-general. He accepted the post and severed his connection with Velásquez. Those of his men still loyal to the Governor of Cuba conspired to seize a ship and escape to Cuba, but Cortés moved swiftly to quash their plans. To make sure such a mutiny did not happen again, he decided to sink his ships, on the pretext that they were not seaworthy.

His ships sunk, Cortés marched into the interior, to the territory of the Tlaxcalans. They were resolute enemies of Mexico and Cortés thought they might join him in a military alliance against the Aztecs. After a long debate, the Tlaxcalans decided to fight Cortés instead, and they suffered terrible losses. Eventually they sued for peace and agreed to go with Cortés to Mexico. Cortés marched on with the Tlaxcalan warriors to Cholula, 20 miles from Tlaxcala. A story spread from the
Tlaxcalans to Malinche that the Cholulans were planning to trap Cortés inside the city and massacre his army. When the Cholulan leadership and many of their warriors gathered, unarmed, in a great enclosure by the pyramid temple of Quetzalcoatl, the Spanish and the Tlaxcalans killed them. The massacre had a chilling effect, provoking other kingdoms and cities in Montezuma's empire to submit to Cortés' demands.

For some reason the first game I thought of was the Edwards dropped ball against UF.

Terrence Edwards is a great dude and deserves to be remembered as one of UGA’s greatest players!

My SO thought he said, "Burn the books" and I had to explain to her that we do not want to associate with leaders who say that

It's interesting that a couple of folks have brought that up, after Monday night.

It was so long ago in my mind, I had practically forgotten about it.

No point in naming particulars, we have to burn it all and look to the 2022 crown if we want a dynasty and bog our selves down another 41 years.
