And considering this season we bring back a proven QB, more returning talent than last year and arguably an easier sched than the last couple of years where we STILL ended up in the playoffs. I'd be shocked if we didn't win it all this year.
I've never felt better about a Kirby Smart Georgia team heading into a season than this one. I can say that because we were coming off a down year in 2021, and there was uncertainty at quarterback. And then in 2022 I thought that we lost too much talent to the NFL to repeat.
Not necessarily predicting a national championship this season, because shite happens and nowadays you have to win at least 3 playoff games instead of 2. But we're fricking loaded. And it's as if people forget that Gunner was one bad Tech game away from being a Heisman Trophy finalist. Also as if people forget that Georgia is the only SEC team to make it to the quarterfinals in each of the first two years of the expanded playoffs, in down years.

Who will be our 1-2 punch at RB this season?
Very important.
Very important.

It sounds to me like we have more than 2 legitimate. But maybe im homering. Staying healthy would be huge.

Who are they? Name them.

Nate Frazier
Chauncey Bowens
Dwight Phillips Jr

Dwight Phillips should not be counted on for anything imo. What's the buzz on the new RB we got in the portal?
Posted on 5/27/26 at 1:58 pm to Wwarmouth
RB 1 and 2 don’t matter until the massive OL decides they are ready to play. Starts in the trenches.

Why not?

Zero meaningful production first two years. Small.
Maybe he has a breakout year but I wouldn't be confident in expecting that to happen based on performance to date.

You aren't the same idiot who bet me that James Cook wouldn't be drafted, are you?
I see similar growth.

No I think that was someone else. I will say I was never a james cook guy. Fell down at first contact way too much for me in college. His performance in the NFL has been incredibly surprising to me, but I never would have said he wouldn't be drafted.
That's a bold take for peanut. Very bold. We shall see.

I didn't claim peanut would be drafted.
It is a worthless position in the NFL.
But his progression and (potential) usage reminds me of Cook.
Cook had highlights early in his career. They were against Vandy and sisters of the poor. He developed into the back that he is today. But the potential was always there.
There is definitely a role on Saturdays for Phillips.

I wasnt saying you did.
I meant the general take on him being a meaningful contribute this year was a bold take.

We can agree to disagree.
The ball will get spread around. But Bobo's play calling will highlight peanut. Angle routes. Speed outs. Motioning wide for go balls. These have been staples for 5 years. Those play calls won't go away.

And they haven't been as successful since kmac and cook left. Cash had some success on angle routes and wheels but those aren't really ginner's forte...or haven't been in the past...struggles with over the middle throws and left a lot of meat on TE wheels too.
I don't see him filling that third down back role. We haven't seen him in pass pro so how will he handle that. Also I hated the fact that we basically told the defense it was a pass play when cash came in...and then you had the few but very meaningful occasions where we come up a yard short on third down, go hurry up, and try to run a scrawny arse RB for the first down and fail.
Bowens has shown he has good hands and is an actual RB that can have success between the tackles. I would like to see him get the majority of those third down plays

I think Bowens and Frazier will get those playcalls as well (except for getting split out wide for go balls).
Peanut can run between the tackles too.
Gunner doesn't have a problem throwing 4 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. Don't be dumb.
His biggest area for growth is finding first read winners (presnap). Drop 7 and drop 8 slowed him down too much late last season. With all off-season to address this opportunity, I am optimistic.

Sure he does. A four yard pass in the middle of the field is a tough throw. Especially for someone for his size. You have to layer the ball which he struggles with and with his longer windup, the DL can get their hands up to knock the pass down
Posted on 5/28/26 at 2:19 pm to Wwarmouth
Nobody is layering an angle route.

Gtfo with that, too.
He has multiple types of releases.
His deep ball has the slower release.
But he doesn't use the same release 4 yards from the line of scrimmage. Even when he's heaving it 30 yards to the sideline on a swing pass, he isn't using the slow release.
