New Money is on the money with this one. ACCPD is an easy villain because they're a bunch of cowboys, but I dont know if making them the villain works in this situation.
The post clearly says Walmart is the issue at the bottom. But it’s still true that ACCPD is always overly eager to make an arrest. So it wouldn’t surprise me if they tried to pay for items they overlooked and got arrested anyway.

Agreed. And they will sit out Round 1 of the playoffs

They won’t because it was a misunderstanding. They missed some items on the bottom of their grocery cart.
They will, as will the rest of the team too….guess it went over your head.

There are quite a few folks on other forums saying that it was a simple oversight at self checkout. Items valued at less than $100 were accidentally not scanned.
I use self-checkout and bag my own groceries at the grocery store every time I shop. I even take my own bags, I have never failed to ring up any item. It is doubtful this was accidently failing to ring up items.

frick Walmart… if they want us to do their job better than the people they replaced with machines, then pay us to do it. And then to arrest them?
Posted on 12/13/25 at 7:48 am to AlaCowboy46
Same here. Wal-Mart loss prevention is one of, if not the most, hard core out there. If you simply made a mistake and left something un-scanned they aren’t going to have you arrested. They prosecute after they have built a case with cameras of repeated incidents of someone “forgetting” to scan items every time they check out. Maybe someone jumped the gun on this one. We will see. Hope that is the case.

I read on another site that Glover and Walker had a couple of cleaning products in the cart they hadn't paid for. Never say never, but that doesn't seem like the sort of thing a couple of football players would intentionally do repeatedly (either cleaning or stealing cleaning products). I, on the other hand, actually am a repeat offender at this sort of thing because I'm typically quite absent-minded while doing menial chores. Over the years, several times I've gone back into a store to pay for things that, for one reason or another, weren't rung up at the register. Sometimes their fault, but two or three times it was my fault or both. Store staff never came after me, but they could've if anyone had noticed. Once I left a 40 pound bag of dog food on the bottom of my shopping cart and got all the way to my car in the parking lot before I saw it and realized what happened.
The latest incident was at the self checkout. My girlfriend was handing me items, and I was scanning. As we were leaving the store, I picked up our reuseable bag from the cart's baby seat and there was a $10 pack of batteries underneath that I didn't remember scanning. We stopped short of the exit and stood there looking at the receipt and the woman overseeing self-checkout showed up almost immediately. I think she already had me scoped out as a recidivist shoplifter/idiot. I just handed her the receipt and said, "You caught me. You caught the tater."

I live in Athens and can attest that a double standard exists.
If these two had been homeless, the products would have been confiscated and they would have been sent on their way.
There is a certain liberal county commissioner who absolutely hates the football team. She has made blanket negative comments about the team and has drawn plenty of criticism from the local NAACP chapter. She has refused to retract her comments.
Did anyone pick up on which Walmart it was?

Maybe the University should ban students, faculty, and employees from shopping at the local Walmarts. Tell them it is to protect their profit margin so shoppers don't have to pay for their shoplifting losses. Charges might get dropped rather than prosecuted.
Which of you downvoted my comment about doubting the incident was accidental? Don't hide from your actions.

I haven't read the thread, so I missed your prior comments until I saw this last one. Not being one to "hide from my actions", I'll fall on my sword and admit that I just now downvoted your previous post (first comment above). The fact that you have never accidentally forgotten to ring up an item is irrelevant, because people do just that all the time. I've done it myself. People make mistakes doing serious things that get them killed, so obviously they make mistakes while fumbling around with their groceries, their wallet, some unfamiliar computer, all while talking to their companions, fiddling with their phone, or thinking about where they need to be in 15 minutes. Even the trained cashiers make glaring mistakes, so customers will obviously do it much more often. Without trying to estimate the amount of my doubt or lack thereof, two teenage males at the self-check station may well be at higher than average risk for mistakes.
I assume Kirby will keep an open mind, assess all the details, combine that with what he knows about the players' history, and make an informed decision. I can appreciate that kind of deliberation because, among other things, it prevents people who do make mistakes at the self-checkout from being subjected to unwarranted punishment.

That ain't how Walmart loss prevention works.

Mistake or not, no one will know for sure. Pay the fine, make sure team understands the situation. Get ready for Sugar Bowl.

Actually, it does work that way. If they have a plain clothes security at the location and he monitors someone at self checkout take items of more than $25, they can call the police. Sounds like that’s what happened here based on reporters understanding from sources.

Same. But I'm also not a low-IQ teenager high on weed gummies.

It's not somebody's grandpa at the door who is busting shopliters. It's a loss prevention dork in the back of the store working with cameras and using AI. Walmart has scales in its dang bagging areas.

Stores own checkers miss, they get what they get win forcing customers to check themselves.

I have at least once, but I usually have my earbuds in, so I didn't hear the beep.
Also, it's possible you wouldn't know if you've made that mistake if nobody ever pointed it out.

And then call ICE.
If it is the store that I think it is, there are plenty of illegals working there.

Walmart have those little cameras at the self check out areas. With those they also have audio so that if there is suspicion that intentional theft has occurred, they can go back and play the audio to see if there was conspiracy to steal between one or more people.
They only call police to arrest for prosecution when they are pretty damn sure they have evidence that can be proven.
Those dorks in the camera room have one mission and they don’t care if you are a celebrity or semi-celebrity. That is their Super Bowl.

Nothing to worry about. A UGA lawyer I know said he once had a client who was actually innocent of a similar charge.
So fear not.
