A fine dawg.

Not in my personal Damn Good Dawg club.

Wish him well in the league.

So does this mean he quit on the team? I know he has to continue to recover but I can't imagine it wouldn't mean a lot to be on the sidelines coaching up Stockton and giving him pointers on things he might see from a veteran standpoint.

Really?

It will be interesting to see how he does in the NFL. He certainly has skills but how do they translate?

This crossed my mind, as well. There was a lot of rumblings this season of some discontent with Carson in the locker room, be it over the way he was playing, the ways he was blaming teammates, or be it him changing as a man (Lambo, tats, instagf, etc.). I don't think he quit on the team or anything, but I get the sense there won't be a lot of love lost with his departure.

Which is why it will be very interesting to see if he's on the sidelines with his brothers for the game. If he isn't, I think that pretty well confirms all the rumblings we've heard all season.

I like Beck a lot and hope he's there. I can see how he may have alienated some teammates, though.

Those rumblings were bullshite.

Beck is well liked, waited his turn for years, never entered the portal, just worked and worked without any glory for years on the bench, got his job taken by Stetson, stayed, Stetson came back, Beck still stayed. Beck was the team barber. He's the one who gave Stetquavious his famous fade. Beck has been and still is a team guy. Beck didn't buy a Lambo to show off his money. It was a promotional deal with the dealership, they let him drive it for free. The team knew that. Dumb fans don't know nor care. They just want their narratives, something to shite on a guy for when he doesn't play well.

In 2023 I would've bought everything you're saying here. Sure seemed there was something off this season in terms of body language, visible frustration from both Beck and the WRs (especially Bell), and the way Kirby babied Carson. I'm well aware the Lambo was not his, but it could still rub other players very wrong. The team rising up the way they did for Gunner is what we should've seen for Beck all season. We didn't.

I'm not dogging Beck, either. He's a DGD. But don't tell me my eyes didn't see what they saw.

It’s not uncommon for a backup QB to generate a lift from the rest of the team, largely out of urgency to carry the new QB. That most likely has very little to do with Beck. It was also the 2nd half of the SECCG with UGA being a consistently better team in the 2nd half for two years now.

I don’t think Beck is the most charismatic guy in the world, but there’s nothing to suggest his teammates don’t like him.

Saw a short on YouTube with Tate and Trevor talking about what it was like to hear Carson in the huddle one last time for the play that won the game. They definitely don’t dislike him.

You saw out-of-context suggestive propaganda click bait.

You saw a photo of Beck on the ground with nobody helping him up. Team must not like him. Or, in reality, the ball was still live and the rest of the team were busting their arse trying to finish the play. Is the team supposed to stop playing when their QB falls down? Quick, forget the Pick 6, we gotta help Carson up before a reporter takes a picture of him and it goes viral on the internet with a fake narrative!

You saw a still shot of Carson Beck laughing on the bench after throwing an interception. Beck clearly doesn't care, and his team mates don't like him. In reality, in the full video clip, Beck is completely dejected on the QB bench and Rashada goes over to him and starts talking to him, telling him a joke to cheer him up, and Beck laughs at the joke. The video is out there. You choose to trust the out-of-context still shot to promote the false narrative that Beck doesn't care and his team mates don't like him. In reality, the exact opposite was true. He was deeply upset and his team mate was trying to get him back in good spirits.

In that sense, yes, your eyes have seen many lies that you believe. Unrelated to football, this is also why you are a liberal.

I'm not done dunking on you. I'm in the mood tonight.

Tattoos. I think they are trashy in 99% of situations. However, I'd guess at least 50% of our players have tattoos. In what world is having tattoos a sign that his team mates don't like him? This is clown-level absurd.

Regarding the girlfriend... I have a secret for you.

Come close, I want to whisper this secret....

No, come closer......

ALL BIG TIME COLLEGE QB'S HAVE HOT GIRLFRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't seem to be a distraction for any other quarterback. If you remember the quote from Moneyball, supposedly from a real baseball scout, they didn't want to bring on a guy because his GF was ugly, suggesting the player didn't have confidence. But you decided his hot GF is a distraction because he threw more interceptions than last year.

And also according to you, unless he lets the rest of the team mmmmmcreampie his girlfriend, then he's being selfish and his team doesn't like him.

You have a lot of Charlie Brown takes but this one may be the Charlie Browniest.

best of luck CB. I think a few factors came into play. Last year he obviously had a bang-up receiver group. This year he didn't. I think - #1 he saw coming back next year with again a questionable receiving corp as a risk. I can't remember how many dropped passes we had but I think we led the nation. It just seemed like his personal focus wasn't there this year. It may have been due to the NIL money and the poor receiving performance. You could just tell his confidence and fire wasn't there in interviews. I remember seeing the same thing in Fromm during 2019. Beck probably will have a lot less pressure as a backup or practice QB and still make money. I think Bennett was a completely difference scenario. Bennett really didn't care what people thought and stood to make a lot of NIL money coming back. His NFL draft stock was never high either. I think Beck will be a 3rd round pick; slight chance at 2.

Having a stable girlfriend relationship is a positive thing. There could be a negative, though, if the girlfriend's twin sister somehow convinces the player that her sister is cursed. I read that the three of them were joking around about a curse all season. Maybe Beck is superstitious. He might be after suffering that freak injury.

I don't know how you make the case that Carson Beck was a true leader of the team when Kirby says something like this about his backup.

Yeah, I get it - we're riding with Gunner now, but that statement strikes me as saying more about the leadership vacuum that previously existed in the locker room.

I would love to see that quote in context and not just two sentences. Plucking two sentences out of a longer statement is exactly how false narratives get started. You know this Vox.

Kirby was talking about the traits that make Gunner a good QB, not necessarily saying that UGA's team plays harder for Gunner than they did for Beck. That would actually be impossible for Kirby to know because Gunner's time in meaningful games totals 30 minutes where the team was fighting to win the SEC championship. As you say, context is important and you rarely get it from internet quotes.

Taken from the transcription section of a youtube video. Notice that Kirby's words above weren't an exact quote. Lack of quotation marks in that graphic were a giveaway that somebody had paraphrased it for effect.

what makes Gunner Stockton a good quarterback
well I think the number one thing a quarterback has to have is
decision-making skill number one he
makes really good decisions uh number
two thing for a quarterback is accuracy
not necessarily armed talent but
accuracy he has accuracy so decision-
making is a
skill accuracy is a huge skill athletic
AB ability and talent probably takes
over third he has those Straits uh all
the intangibles in terms of toughness
character uh embody what he was raised
on his dad was a really good uh football
player played at Georgia Southern he's
been raised around football he's a
coach's son um all the players play
harder for him you know do you make the
players around you better is what you
look for in a quarterback I think he
raises the skill level of everybody
around him because of who he is so
that's my reason for believing he's a
good
quarterback
