Here is a thread from 2 years ago with the same away teams as this year: LINK

From then til now UT and tech went up $5, which is not that bad all things considered. UF went up $10 in both club and non-club, which I guess the market supports so whatever. AU went up $20 so a regular season ticket straight from the school will now carry a face value of $140. Absolute absurdity! Only a matter of time before this bubble starts popping. I mean at what point are people going to say "I'm not paying for this shite"..$180? $200? Can you imagine the day we are paying $200 face value for a regular season ticket?

All of that is ridiculous but that's not even the worst of it. Motherfricking VANDERBILT has nearly DOUBLED their ticket price and is now a whopping $115 face value. You can sit lower level in Knoxville or the WLOCP for less than you can for the vanderbilt game. Who do they think they are?

A lot of sports are starting to price themselves out of existence, at least as far as average fans go. MLB is pretty much the only major pro sport that's still affordable, and that's only for the decidedly sub-premium seats.

Add in younger generations that couldn't give a tuppeny frick about most sports and all the people ditching cable and network tv, and an awful lot of sports are going to be feeling the pinch soon.

Is that true? Buddy of mine wanted me to go to a game this summer at Suntrust and tickets were over $150. I was like, “nah.”

Heap of cheaper Braves tickets than $150. You can pick literally any night game this summer and sit in the outfield, have a couple of beers and eat, and buy yourself a new Braves hat for less than $150.

I scored Suntrust club seats thru my work for $100 for this Friday. Unlimited beer, spirits and food with seat service. Can’t beat that

I assume this is Vandy's method of attempting to avoid the "home on the road" that has happened in recent years... But doubtful it will be effective.

Yep. I got two tickets for a Braves game in May in the outfield. Close to the fence. $45 after fees.

Makes sense. Pretty sure the other guy involved insists on buying dugout seats because he’s a dumbass.

Not sure about every stadium, but most of them have some seriously cheap seats. For example, you can get Dodgers tickets for under $10, so long as you don't mind watching the game from just below the orbit of the International Space Station.

Pro sports are fine catering to corporate and very wealthy. Everyone else can watch on television and help the ratings. Not sure where colleges will get to before it cools off. Talk about the haves and have nots. Big college football is printing money. Plenty of coaches have constantly fund raising to make ends meet.

Idk but I'd have to assume it's everyone. It's not just UGA, pretty much any "big time" football school takes up half their stadium and they were probably just tired of not making more money off of it.

Unfortuantely ticket prices are continuing to soar and I don't see an end in sight. It wasn't until very recently that we started playing the game as well so pretty much every year we raise prices on opponents, they raise them back, we raise again, etc. This year for instance we are charging Texas A&M $135 face value for our game, and that's not even based on them charging us similar since we haven't played them yet since they joined. I guarnatee you in 2024 when we go to college station face value on that game is gonna be damn near $175. Ridiculous.

When you pay coaching staffs 10 million a year and you've spent 100 million upgrading facilities, it's not surprising. Other schools are doing the same.

Pretty much everything is pricing itself out of existence of the average person. Theme parks, Disney World, sporting events, etc. Hell, college education has reached the point of pricing itself out of the average person's affordability.

definitely, and that's my biggest question of when will it end? It can't just keep going up forever where you're paying $300 face value for every home game, at some point it's gotta stop. I remember when we went to Stillwater for the OSU game in 2009. They had (not sure if still do) their normal prices for home games but designated one game per year as a "special" one. Typically it'd be OU or texas but in 09 it was our game, and the face value was $100. I remember being floored that a face value regular season game carried a 3 digit face value, couldn't believe it. Here we are 10 years later and that's more and more the norm when visiting other venues, and hell at this point $100 is about on the lower end at most of these places.

I should know this but what’s our away ticket face value?

Who knows! Programs and universities may make a lot of money from corporations, but that's not going to fill up empty stadiums. Some places are already having issues with empty seats. Thankfully we haven't yet, other than a few empty seats in the student section.
