What was the issue here? Was it just that they were that much stronger than our guys? We're they that much faster? Was it both? And how soon could we compete and win a game against a line like that? Thoughts?

Honestly its pretty simple. They knew we were gonna run. We had yet to play a team who knew that AND had the talent to match up man for man on the line and stop us.

We have to be able to keep defenses guessing. Passing game needs to get rolling in games like this or the result will be the same. Balance is the key. We didn't have that Saturday.

Coaches could have helped though, imo...screens, bootlegs, better RPO reads, Tight ends, etc

When you have a a good defense like Auburn and everyone knows exactly what you're going to do, it's going to be a blood bath 9 time out of 10. Packing everyone in between the hashes and running between the tackles was probably the worst game plan we could have developed for that game.

This truly needed to be a game where we flipped the script and played our passing game a la vs MiZzzou this year and spread out the field, slinging the ball like the Big XII until they backed off to respect the run.

Don’t know. Never gave offense a real chance before it didn’t matter.

Down 9-7. We get 3 and out, jump the shield give ball back to AU (TD).
Fumbled punt after 3 and out give AU 23 yard field (TD).
Sony Personal could gives AU gives AU 35 yard field (TD).

We just need to focus on not giving them points..when we play again.

It's what we did last year.Although not a great offensive performance we kept the chains moving and opened up the run game.

Did you see what OU did to em in their bowl game with the passing game they had?

The fact that we are playing a redshirt freshman Solomon Kindley at right guard and freshman Andrew Thomas at right tackle tells you all you need to know about our lack of continuity on the OL over the last 4 years and beyond. Meanwhile Auburn has mostly veterans playing on their defensive front 7. These are the kind of one on one match-ups that Vegas odds-makers look at when assessing a game. Toss in a consistently strong Auburn home field advantage (refs I'm looking at you) explains why the smart money was going to Auburn leading up to the game.

I was more disappointed in our DL vs their OL, there was one play in the 4th the got like a 8 yard run. Can’t remeber which DL it was but he was driven back ten yards off the line and planted on his arse. Auburn OL stood over him and called him a bitch I would assume bc he pointed at him, that was so disappointing and if I’m that DL I would find that play and watch it on a loop. So for me I was disappointed in how out physically we were played against their OL

They were pretty pathetic and it's not like they lack talent. At least 2 of our DL will be playing on Sundays along with probably 3 LB's

Overwhelmed our youth on ol and youth at QB then jammed our wr at the line.

Boot legs would have given Fromm more time, he just could not sit back in the pocket.

We hit the long TD early and block better on the flea flicker and it changed au entire approach to completely filling the box to playing it straight.

I think they stole our signs or at least had our tendencies down to a science. They just knew where to be a little too much.

They have two big time recruits out of Georgia, Russel 6-3 310 and Brown 6-5 330. Running between the tackles was going to be difficult. The Oline is not of caliber. Like othersve metioned, you could have run off tackle, run wide, jet sweeps, pull guards, etc.

Chaney must of thought they were going to fold after the first drive like State did. Hopefully he learns and adapts but it's doubtful.

This is the reason Fields is our QB of the future.

This was the matchup that killed us. Every team this year has loaded up to stop the run, but only Auburn had the talent to do so.

Blaming offensive playcalling doesn't do us any good - we couldn't run, and we couldn't give Fromm a pocket to throw from. They whipped us at the line of scrimmage, on both sides of the ball, really, but our OL was just getting particularly smashed.

So what exactly do we do if we face em in the SECCG?
Same game plan/play calling?Run the ball continuously up the middle 30+ times and hoping their D-line gets worn down?

I disagree. When it became apparent that we could not gain worth a shite using the single back zone running scheme that always originates in the A and B gap we should have switched to a power scheme and attacked off tackle. Should have gotten into an I formation and motioned a slot to the play side to have multiple double teams at the point of attack with a FB leading into the hole to boot. It was the only way that we could have equalized their DL and curbed the momentum that they had gained early in the game. We should have completely changed our running game scheme by the 2nd quarter.

I am not sure if we didn't because Chaney is stubborn or we don't even have the pure power scheme installed. Which to me is bad planning by Chaney if true. We have enough talent that if we overload at the point of attack with multiple DTs utilizing TEs and Slots in motion.....and a FB.....we have the RBs to find the creases off tackle. That would have opened up play action passing as well as they would have their LBs playing back a little more and having to adjust their angles to get to the ball carrier. As it was, they were just breeching our LOS unencumbered.

Their DL is better than our OL but Chaney did nothing to offset and equalize that. The zone shite into the A and B gap was a failure against that D and he did nothing to change the scheme. Very disappointing.

Bull frickingnshit... while Auburn had nice talent, we got out coached. You Dont become #1 in the nation in November and run over the SEC scoring 42plus points and stringing together long drive after long drive with a shitty Oline...

No sir, Auburn did exactly what UF did last year. They had the talent to do it. Yet, just like last year, our coaches don’t seem to be creative or dynamic enough to modify a game plan when the opposing team took away the little gaps. We just kept on going at it... our wrinkle was running some sort of trap play that we couldn’t execute with Auburn shooting gaps the way they were. 3rd and long, they sold out with 4 or 5,with some nice stunts... with no regard for a draw or screen... hopfully those fat fricks took time off from eating this week to work on packages other than read option with no running QB....
