Seems like more and more at the power schools the athletes are kept in a bubble. It's like there is a semi pro team associated with the school. Kinda disappointing, but i guess the athletes have always been separate to one degree or another.

Yep. They eat meals with their teammates, room with their teammates.

Joe Burrow said the first time he had been around LSU students was after the A&M game this year.

This is a surprise to you? Have you not kept up with the fake degrees at AU and UNC?

Yes I am surprised the practice is as prevalent and comprehensive and officially sanctioned as it is.

What do online classes have to do with what UNC/AU was doing?

This really isn't anything new.I
don't believe Tebow stepped inside a class at UF 10 years ago.

Are these proctored exams for online classes?

If legitimately proctored, I dont take any issue to someone doing a class online and being tested to the same standard as everyone else.

All the online classes I took from 12-15 had exams you at to go take in the classroom with a TA watching or they gave papers as finals that you had to turn in to a plagerism software. I mean there are still ways to cheat but it's more difficult then it used to be.

I took 3 online classes at Georgia and each had their own testing policies that everyone had to adhere to, or so they claimed. (I noticed several “big name” athletes were listed on the class list on ELC so who knows if they got special treatment)

One didn’t give a frick and just let you take it with a 3 hour time limit and at home

One required a lockdown browser and had to be finished in “class time” (50-60 mins), so looking up the answers with your phone wouldn’t work.

The last one made me sign up for this god forsaken online proctoring system run out of India. 4 times that semester I had to take the online test while some person across the world watched my every move. I lived by the baseball field and I had to take a test during one of the home games and the proctor said she flagged my exam because she thought the fight song playing in the background was some signal based cheating system.

frick UGA baseball for deciding to hang 7 runs in the first 3 innings that day.

I had professors who were total asshats about athletes missing class for practice or games. I can see where online classes would be helpful.

I think the school of Education was the 80s version of online classes. It was close to the Mac and if you showed up, you got a C. Still, everyone had to go to real classes. We were on quarters, so you typically went every day for an hour and had 3 classes. Each class was credited as 5 hours. You needed 12 hours to be considered a full time student. Classes like PE and ROTC were credited as 2 hours I believe, so some guys took 2 “Education” classes and then a PE or ROTC during the season. Most everyone lived in the Mac at the time. People with GPAs below 3.0 or something like that had mandatory Study hall. There was a learning, computer, and tutor center in the Mac. There were a few of us who had real majors and 7:50 classes on Old Campus which was a long ride on the North South. I still don’t know how we stayed up til 2 drinking and made those classes.

7:50's were for people that dragged their arse to registration and the other classes were full. The reason for drop/add madness on Oasis was 7:50's.

I still take exams for licensing, certifications, and professional designations.

They check 2 forms of ID and then provide a computer in a cubicle with closed circuit tv watching me as I complete the exams. There is no cheating going on.

I'm a little surprised that college doesnt always have proctored exams.

Prometric? They also wand you and then feel you up for cheat sheets. I don't miss those days.

We got to register first, so I typically got the class I wanted. I just liked being done with classes so I had a tad bit of down time before practice. With treatments, taping, and position meeting before practice, it was a long afternoon.

My last one was proctored by Pearsons I think.

Prior to that was the same location and same process but a different company. I think prometric was one of the options available at my choosing but I dont remember if that was the com9ant I chose to proctor.

I had to take a certification exam at prometric at Howell Hall the other day. It’s always freezing in that room so i was wearing a gaudy ski buff on my head. Dude told me I couldn’t wear it. Told him it was religious. He gave me a funny look but that was that.

Prometric and medical certification is one hell of a racket.

Should be noted every school is different with regard to online classes. UGA doesn’t offer enough online classes to keep guys entirely off campus whereas OSU and LSU do; OSU and LSU can make entire semester schedules of nothing but online classes. Last I’d heard, UGA is also wary of putting guys in too many online classes precisely because it can raise a lot of suspicion and opportunity for cheating to take place.

The Auburn and UNC stuff is an entirely different issue. Auburn straight up created an undergrad major with a ton of elective hours with the blatant intent of funneling a lot of their low achieving football players into an all but worthless degree program.UNC’s biggest offense wasn’t even against its athletes but its bullshite claim as a public ivy when non-athletes were getting away with receiving high grades for no work.
