I think if the Oline talent lives up to its billing, it will matter less about RB talent then it has in years past.

I don't think anyone is sleeping on those guys but they are a fairly unknown commodity.

They both got trash-time reps last year and neither one has started a game that mattered.

I think its just the combination of the rumors about Swift's groin injury(which have been said to be bullshite, but some folks continue to think its true) and the idea that Holyfield and Herrin are relatively unknown commodities at this point that has folks a little worried with Zamir going down.

I think in the end we will be fine as long as someone steps up and the line plays like it should.

Holyfield looks solid to me. I don't think he's really an unknown I think he's going to be pretty damn good this year.

Holyfield is a big, physical guy who runs Like Barry Sanders, jump cuts and shiftiness which seems odd for his size but he has physicality when he needs it. Largely for blocking.

I mean we know he is a swole dude who flashed some great moves in mop up duty the past few years, but we will have to see how he handles a more prominent role as its looking like he will prob be the #2 guy.

Let me put it this way...how he handles jumping from the 4th/5th string back to #2 well be interesting

This very well could be UGA's best O-line in 20 yrs, I expect Swift, Holyfield, Cook and Herrien to all avg. 5 plus yds a pop. We just need to keep these guys healthy and fresh.

My question is, " where do the red zone touches and touchdowns go?"

Chubb had 10 touchdowns from the red zone in 2017.

Sony had 7 rushing and 1 receiving.

Swift had 2 rushing and 1 receiving.

Holyfield had 1 rushing.

Herrien had 1 rushing.

(Fromm had 3 rushing TDs from the red zone for what it is worth).

Not to be callous, but any of our tailbacks will be able to get yards between the 20s. It takes another level to punch it through the end zone.

That's what a jump ball to Isaac Nauta is for.

Or a red zone package with Fields doing undefendable rollouts.

End of season, Fields has a grand total of 114 yards with 20 TD's.

Fromm has 3000 yards and 4 touchdowns.

I've seen a lot of the "Herrien won't run inside, bumps it outside too much" talk on message boards. I'd have to go back and watch again, but he didn't seem have a lot of holes to run through. Mostly late game carries when we were killing clock with straight ahead runs into a packed defense. I do seem to remember one touchdown where he got stuffed initially and then powered backwards for the score.

Herrien's a powerful kid with good burst, and I don't recall him shying away from contact. I'm not convinced he won't be successful up the middle when he faces defenses that aren't so jammed up.

Me think the recent pictures of Holyfield is a product of staff getting him bulked up to pound the inside. The holes gonna be so wide open, Holyfield won't get touched until 5 yards down field.

Our run blocking could be very good, but we also need good pass blocking for the running game to really open up. If we protect Fromm as well as last year, defenses will have to respect him and this deep group of receivers. But if the pass blocking takes a step back, defenses may try to cheat up like they did in 2016.

Andrew Thomas should be good in pass protection, hopefully as good as Wynn was last year but that remains to be seen. At the other tackle spot, we'll have to see how Wilson and company hold up against good defenses.

Prior to last year, I was never a fan of the WildDawg. It always seemed we were just telegraphing a run, or a RPO with an inexperienced passer.

Then someone on here taught me that the real advantage is that you have a better blocking package. And with our O-line and TEs, and after the RoseBowl success, I now expect to see it often inside the 10.

And we finally agree. Herrien is gonna surprise some folks.

I'm in the "Holyfield is going to be really good" camp. He just didn't get all that much chance to prove it last year with the Chubb, Michel, Swift trio taking 95% of snaps.

Herrien is the one I'm not sure of. He seems like a good out of the backfield receiver and there were some times he showed flashes of explosiveness outside. But he definitely doesn't have that low center of gravity like the others and maybe not the instincts. Still, more data needed...

Herrien looked legit during the first half of his freshman year, specifically against UNC and Tennessee where he was basically the #2 back.

Those were close games where UGA relied heavily on the ground attack and he ran hard. I don't think Holyfield has seen carries in those situations yet.

Can we stop with the Herrien stuff already? Besides the few plays against a pansy UNC ACC defense, has he really flashed? He's at best a 4th back and I hope he only plays mop-up duty this year.

Holyfield on the other hand has flashed whenever he gets the rock. I believe in this kid. Ideally, I want Swift and Holyfield to get the carries with a little sprinkling of James Cook. We can't waste plays on Herrien anymore, we're a better program than that now.

I'd like to see Holyfield get the bulk of carries in a game. I think he is one of those runners that will grind and grind and get better the more he touches the ball.

I hate what happened to Zeus - he was who I was the most looking forward to watching this year.

I just watched a bunch of Holyfield highlights. Boy he is better than I remembered. He breaks tackles behind the line of scrimmage and gets good yards after contact. I think it’s going to be Swift/Holyfield unless James cook is just unreal good. Herrien might do well if this O line is as good as advertised. Get him some space and it’s a foot race that he’s gonna win.. he’s fast.
