Some supposed woman who's supposedly from Florida saw my listing and texted me this. Anybody have experience with stuff like this?

-----------

Okay good, The price is ok, but it's a long journey, I can't make it there with cash, but I will have to make an arrangement with Global Auto Movers, they will come for the pick up as soon as you receive the payment, do you have PayPal account for the payment?.

I don't personally but I've heard of different PayPal scams with Craigslist.

But someone willing to buy a car on Craigslist that they haven't seen themselves or had someone they trust look at seems sketchy.

ETA: plus obviously something doesn't sit right with you or you wouldn't be asking. Good chance it's not worth the risk.

From Global Auto Movers website...

quote:

Internet fraud is a reality in our lives. The auto transport industry is not immune from its impact on people's lives and bank accounts.

Specifically, we have uncovered a fraudulent or scam activity related to buying, selling and moving cars. Our discovery of this particular fraud came from individuals calling us on the phone who have been defrauded by a purported company with the same name as ours. We say "purported" simply because we have been unable to find any business registration or proper licensing with the Department of Transportation or in the state in which they claim to be doing business. The specific questionable website's address is globalautomover.ning.com (FYI -"ning" is a Software as a Service, SaaS, platform upon which people can build a website with little oversight). Some unknown individuals have used the "ning" platform to create a website to pose as a legitimate business. We are aware of several people who have been defrauded of thousands of dollars who referenced this website.

To date we have filed complaints with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association, Ning and PayPal.

Don't allow yourself to fall into such a trap.

We highly recommend you verify the licensure and bonding of any broker before you do business with them. Follow this link LINK to determine the validity of any Broker or Transporter. Select one of radio button for your search. USDOT number is the number on the side of trucks, MC/MX Number is the identifying number for Brokers and Name is the name of the company. Any legitimate company will provide you with the proper identification without hesitation. Once you click on your selection you will see a screen that, among other information, has the MC/MX/FF Numbers. Click on the underlined number and you then can link to specific details regarding Bonding including telephone numbers.

If your contact to move your vehicle is NOT listed nor cannot or will not provide licensing information, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THAT ENTITY.

For more information on the Auto Transport Industry, see our eBook – GLOBAL AUTO MOVERS, LLC.

For more information on common internet fraud schemes go to LINK .

We look forward to serving you. Please feel free to contact us with your questions and transport needs

Let me ask you this...

Do you have a really rare truck that a random Florida bitch would be willing to buy it and have it shipped to her, sight unseen?

Definite scam. I haven't sold a truck, but have sold a couple cars that way and it never fails that I get at least one of these type "offers". It's a total scam.

Don't be stupid.

Let me tell you how this scam works.

Your asking price is $12,000.

She says OK, I'll take it, what is your paypal info.

You give your paypal info.

She "accidentally" deposits $20,000 into your paypal account.

She contacts you and says there was a mistake. Can you wire her Western Union the $8000 difference.

In order to wire money, you must have cash. You withdraw the cash to wire it back.

Couple of weeks later, the paypal deposit of $20k bounces, the bank it was drafted from returns it like a bad check.

But you, being a dumb schmuck, already took out cash and sent it back to bitch. And now you are on the hook for the money to the bank.

If you think this bitch is in any way serious, and she isn't, but if she is, tell her to wire you the money through Western Union.

There is a 100% chance this bitch isn't wiring you a god damn thing.

I have but met face to face at the bank that held the title. Buyer gave me cash that was ran through counter that picked up fraudulent bills. They cut me a cashiers check for difference.

Sounds like you're about to get fricked if you proceed with this transaction .

using Paypal or Western Union as a payment source.

I sold a John Deere lawn tractor for $3,000.00 on Craig's List a few years ago. Cash only which made the buyer very nervous. But he came, checked it out, paid the cash and hauled it away. So I'd have to say it was a positive experience.

Are you kidding me? fricking around with trailers is one of the highlights of my life. Trailers are a perfect balance of -

1: Why you can't do something (don't want to do)

2: Why you absolutely CAN do something (that you want to)

Reorganize your priorities. Reflect. Seek input from your peers.
