Any advice on where to stay downtown that is a family friendly hotel? We're coming up this weekend (yes, last minute planning) for my son's 2nd birthday. Right now we're looking at maybe the Atlanta Zoo Friday, Saturday Braves game, and Sunday aquarium.

I have parking set for the Braves game. Was told to find tickets on the first base side. I'm sure with him being so young we won't be there for more than 3-4 innings but it's the experience that I'm looking forward to.

The last time the family and I stayed in ATL was at Aloft. A pretty good place literally a couple of blocks from the aquarium and the coke museum. Easy walking distance. Seems like a pretty good area, too.

Unless you just want to stay downtown, you could stay near the Galleria. Keep you out of the hustle and bustle and near the Battery. You’d have to commute 10 miles or so into the city, but not far.

As far as places to stay, just kind of depends on what you want. Looks like the Artmore is priced at $99/night on hotel tonight right now for the weekend with a couple of rooms left. It's a restored old building next to the high museum. It would be a drive to all 3 destinations, but good central spot with easy access to get on 75N to head to Braves, or take back roads to Aquarium/Zoo if interstate is backed up.

Take a look at some photos online and see if it's up your alley.

Aloft is another solid recommendation. Not a huge fan of the neighborhood there in general, but it is closer to the aquarium.

If your kiddo was a little older, I'd recommend checking out the center for puppetry arts, but I think their show right now is for 4+... While that's a pretty soft guideline, at 2nd birthday probably wouldn't be able to sit through the show... Worth keeping in mind as he gets a little older. This weekend is Beauty and the Beast, which may not be a little boy's favorite, but we've seen Peter Pan among others... and there is a DIY puppet station that kids love, as well as a museum with old school Muppets and other puppets.

Courtyard Marriott (Ga Tech) is a little more centrally located. Not that far from the Battery,Aquarium and WOC.The Zoo is a little bit of a drive from there. As far as Courtyard Marriotts go it's actually pretty nice and well kept.

It's probably sold out for this weekend though.

while it's further away from the Friday/Sunday activities, I would recommend staying close to SunTrust Park as this would allow you to stay at the game a little bit longer than you would be able to if you had to drive back into town.

Co-sign for Artmore. Very cool building as long as that is your style.

If you're staying downtown, I'd suggest the Embassy Suites at Centennial. We stayed at the Omni recently for a concert at State Farm Arena and looking around from our window, I figured out staying at the Embassy would have been a better choice.

Hit the CFB Hall of Fame when you do the Aquarium if you haven't been. Can do it in a coupla hours if you need something else to do while your downtown. Lots of interactive stuff for the kids.

Stay at the embassy suites across from the CFHF or the one in Buckhead(across the street from Marta).

Same here!Jeff Lynne hasn't toured the states in 35 years.

Made the mistake of seeing an ELO show on the 90's made up of some former members... horrible show and a complete rip off.

I apologize for not offering advice but I do have a question. Why are you traveling so far to celebrate a two year old birthday?

Sounds like he wants to go to a Braves game and the aquarium. Try to keep up.

This. There's plenty of parking around the zoo and aquarium, but parking at Sub Trust stinks. Stay at the Renaissance Galleria and walk across the pedestrian bridge to the stadium.
