Their passing game really concerns me. Young is very accurate when given time and the receivers are speed demons.
Christopher Smith couldn't even run onto the field yesterday for Sr day. If he can't come back, that leaves us with a former walk on at safety.
Defensive backfield is inexperienced in spots.
I do NOT want to get into a shootout with them.
We must get pressure on Young for the defense to hold them in check.

My transitive property analysis from SECR:
These two teams have three common opponents at this point, and after next week, will have four common opponents for analysis.
The transitive property is debunked, in general, but when you have a large body of common opponents, the transitive property becomes more legitimate.
Common opponents-
Florida
Tennessee
Arkansas
Auburn (after next week).
Against common opponents so far-
UGA has given up 24 points.
Bama has given up 88 points.
UGA has scored 112 points.
Bama has scored 125 points.
Initial conclusion is both offenses are on par with each other. The defenses are the big difference.
As GoldenDawg pointed out on SECR, UGA's offensive points on these common opponents do suffer from 4th quarter pullback, grinding clock, etc... whereas Bama's offense was full-tilt for 4 quarters vs these common opponents. That's three whole quarters of football where Bama was still trying as hard as they can, while UGA was rotating backups and grinding clock.

We can't, and I suspect we won't, give Young much time to throw. Our front 7 vs their OL will be the battle, and I believe we will win that battle.

Honestly, I am worried about the deep ball against Bama. Also, we are vulnerable to the slant, see the TN game.

Bama’s D is hot garbage, but they can sell out to stop the run.
I think our offense plays right in to the strength of their defense.
I also worry about how we can give up big plays at times. This isn’t a great match up at all for us. We may can squeak by them with a win. If we throw for 50 percent and turn it over, they will probably win again.

Bama throws it very well. UGA's pass defense can be had, if Bama's QB doesn't get pressured...A LOT.

We're still only a 3pt favorite (pretty much even since the game is in Atlanta)
If everything else was exactly the same as it is now and you change the name Alabama to Syracuse, it would be closer to 13 than 3.

Georgia is the better team but can Georgia get over the hump when it comes to Alabama?

Arkansas didn’t pressure Young all that much and stayed in a damn 3 man front nearly the whole game just like they did when we made pulled pork outta them in September. Odom isn’t the defensive wizard he’s made out to be most times. They had plenty of chances to knock Alabama off but were hamstrung by bad defense and some really shitty calls…..which we’ll also get plenty of in Atlanta. Alabama was holding on a shitload of plays yesterday and it wasn’t called.

I think they pressured him plenty, just not consistently. There were times where Young was running for his life, and times when he had time to make cheese and crackers.

He doesn't have five star linemen and linebackers all over the field, so there's that. He's doing his best to make chicken salad out of chicken shite.

He'd rather have an extra linebacker in the game than an extra lineman, that's usually based on personnel, that doesn't mean the linebackers weren't getting into the rush. They were.

I have actually thought this for a couple of weeks after watching them and looking at their stats more closely. This Georgia team is likely the deepest ever in elite talent, and certainly has the best overall defense in the era of high octane offenses in college football. Meanwhile, this Alabama team is way off from the product Saban usually puts on the field. Their offensive line is shaky; their ability to play typical Alabama football with power running is way down. Their defense is laughably down from what they've come to expect in their program. Losses to the NFL, injuries, and some recruits that didn't pan out have taken a toll this season. They're kind of one-dimensional.
It's conceivable that if UGA got out ahead, it could turn into a blowout that would wreck the media's desire all season for a UGA-AL battle for the ages.

Basically my thoughts as well.
I think the SEC championship will boil down to their O line versus our D line. On paper I think that favors us, but even if our defensive front spends the most of the game in their backfield, Young will still get his opportunities at some deep shots with his ability to extend plays. I think our secondary will get burned on some deep passes. But how often is the question.
That said, I still think we are the better team. Keep Young running for his life and limit how much he can keep his eyes downfield, and I like our chances. If he’s got all day to throw like he did against Arkansas, it will be a tough game. But Arkansas doesn’t have our D front (and frequently brought 3 guys on the pass rush… bad idea).
I need to go back and watch the Bama/LSU game again. Alabama only had a little over 300 yards in that game, and basically all of it through the air. So maybe if Georgia makes Bama completely one-dimensional like LSU pulled off, we could win big. That was an LSU defense already pummeled with injuries.
