I think that's the difference between me and you I guess.

I don't say those types of words about black people behind their backs.

Evidently, neither does Sasser.

sure the faculty members that laud free speech will be along shortly to advocate for the guy. Right?

Maybe if he were going to jail, but he isn’t. No law was broken.

It’s essentially a word that isn’t used without the intent of racism.

It's most frequently used as an insult, sure; but not always. But even assuming it was intended as an insult - which doesn't really fit the context in which it was said - it's still a giant leap to paint Sasser as a racist.

And if you're going to divine intent by use of a single word, you'd pretty much have to concede that terms like bitch, count, fig, etc. are also intended as attacks based on sex and sexual orientation. Once you start assigning something as intangible as "intent" to insults - again, assuming it was actually used as such - then you're going to be forced to conclude that just about every insult is primarily motivated by a something improper.

Quite the opposite if anything. Very small leap.

Let me ask you, Mr. Free Speech, would you be so adamant in defending Sasser if instead of telling the N-word he had booed the military veterans that were honored at the game and called them war criminals? If the answer is no, then you have no right lecturing people about supposed "double standards" when it comes to free speech.

My intent was to slight the double standard that undoubtedly exists between the faculty and student body. I can link you no less than 3 instances (within the last week) that involve faculty calling for the death, castration, or other physical harm of white males based on their political views. In all these cases the universities sided with the faculty & described their comments as personal self expression. If its good for the goose it's good....

So if we make NFL players stand up for the anthem, you'd be ok kicking the kid out of school?

You’re right I don’t understand it because I’m not a racist. Equality involves us all living by the same standards.

I shouldn’t be saying the N word.

Black people shouldn’t be saying the N word.

I’d have to be a racist to understand.

Think about it....he allegedly said: “put that N***a in the game”.

Had he been black and said “put that N***a in the game” this would be a non issue.

Do you see how that hypocrisy is racist?

Modern Hip Hop culture has made this phrase popular. If no one should use it then why didn’t we allow it to die when it should have?

Yeah you could argue that the context of its use in more racist times was different but if that’s the case then why is the phrase in a newer completely different context not able to be used by everyone?

It would be best if it weren’t “cool” because people like to be trendy. Don’t popularize words you don’t want other people using. Which brings me back to my original point...saying that certain people can say certain things and others can’t because of the color of their skin is racism in itself.

Harsh punishment, how many football players have been arrested on felony charges and they stay on the team.

Call me crazy, but what happened to the idea of rehabilitating a person? You know, the idea of showing someone a new path in life and changing them as a person but NOPE guess they just gotta ruin his life instead. That'll really teach him just treatment.

Anyone complain when Tray Bishop filmed a girl against her wishes? Yea, that's what I thought. We all know the politics in play here.

You're the bad guy because it's fools like you that are the reason this girl posted this thing on-line in the first place. You're the reason Fields had to actually hear about it. And his teammates. And his family. And all UGA athletes and recruits. You're the reason this is somehow a news story. And youre the reason this kid got kicked out of school for saying a word. You're the reason the door is now opened for more of this tattle-tell bullshite. You're the reason this PC insanity will grow at UGA now and spread. You are the clueless busybody weaklings that are paving the road to hell with what you think are good intentions. And it's sickening to watch.

Hope you're real real proud of yourself.

I didn't call you a bad guy, just like I don't think Sasser's necessarily a bad person. I just don't think that's an ok thing to say.

youre the reason this kid got kicked out of school for saying a word.

I'd argue that he should take responsibility for his actions.

How? I would have said something to him about it, not told journalists. I think the world is far too PC nowadays where everyone gets offended at every little thing. That being said, I also believe we should be respectful of others even if they're different than you and me. I don't know if I would have kicked him off the team, at least not right away. I probably would have tried to talk to him and then go from there. But that's not how the world works, and everyone wants it handled right away or there's an uprising. Same thing with Kavanaugh. People aren't even sure if he's guilty and they want his nomination revoked anyways.

I just feel like I try to see both sides. I can understand why people are upset, and why this would be a bad look for the baseball team, especially in recruiting. I understand the world is too PC. Just someone yelling the N-Word isn't the hill I'm going to die on for the PC world. That's not an ok thing to do.

Love Jeremiah Holloman's mother's response:

Thank you for this. It takes a big person to say sorry & own their mistake. I pray that any offenses are forgiven & that you move forward in life not to be haunted by this. Life is full of lessons. Once learned it’s awesome if we can help others learn them too. Much love
