This. Nike would be all over it. Think about how much money they made on replicas of the last set of blackout jerseys.

Absolutely. Hell, UT got their hideous ones in a week a few years back

I got to thinking about that, CMR might be trying to hide it

Remember prior to the first blackout, he did a pretty good job of hiding the whole thing. The rumor existed and was denied then as well. Players warmed up in their red jerseys and they themselves did not find out until LITERALLY moments before heading out the tunnel. The captains didn't know at all until the rest of the team showed up in them because they were out for the coin toss in red as well.

CMR today basically told you to wear black "if you'd like to honor Murray's request". Who do you really think DOESN'T want to now do this for AM? He's counting on everyone now donning the black.

Blackout will happen. Mark it.

What was it called then?

Grambling-out?

If you count the helmets, then you have to also count the pants from the Donnan era. That makes us 4-2 wearing the black, correct?

Oh, and how many games have we lost wearing red?

Riiiiight. Color has everything to do with it.

I thought about that too, but then thought...why? for auburn we hid the shite out of it, and it was magical. Hawaii we didn't hide anything, and said for weeks there'd be one, fine. Same against bama, we announced on monday, which led to all the funeral talk and all that build up.

So I can KINDA see Richt not wanting the blackout to dominate the week and add opponent motivation, but it's kentucky. We shouldn't have to worry about giving kentucky bulletin board material.

I kinda like this idea anyways. Lets save each years blackout for a cupcake home game...its lets every senior eventually get their blackout and we are promised a win(99%) of the time.

I don't have a problem with that in the least. Get the bugaboo of the Bama one into ancient history and just reclaim it as something that opponents fear.

Per CMR's call in show last night, via 247:
quote:

According to Richt, Georgia is not planning to wear black for Saturday night’s game against Kentucky. Though he wouldn’t mind if you do.

Murray and other seniors have been asking to wear black jerseys in what will be their final game at Sanford Stadium, but Richt said they don’t have them available.

“If I had black jerseys to give them I’d have them wear them,” Richt said. “We just don’t have them. I don’t know if that’s going to break everybody’s heart or not, but we don’t have any black jerseys in stock. If we did, I’d be all for it. But if the fans want to honor Aaron Murray’s request and bless him and the seniors, I’m sure our players would love if the fans did a blackout.”

Richt did offer this up as well: “I’ll wear black. How about that? I’ll go all Johnny Cash.”

Speaking of Nike, how far in advance is their uniform changes planned out? They never wear the same uni twice, do they?

Again, I assure you that Aaron Murray or any or the other seniors did not wait until this week to let the coaches know about this desire for the blackout.

You can bet the jerseys are already in lockdown at Butts-Mhere.

I agree completely. If any QB has an opportunity to redeem the Blackout, it's AM.

It may be lame but I think everyone knows that Richt is just gonna do the AU game thing again and break them out last second. And why not?

Georgia can do it and hell I think it'd be cool to send them off in black. Hell, I think it'd be cool for my last game as a student to be a blackout in more than one way.

Frankly, it just occurred to me after this thread started how long it had been since we did this. I mean 2008? We've now gone nearly a full 5 seasons without one......I think that's a long enough gap.

And no, the Grambling helmets DO NOT count.

Amarlo Herrera just tweeted "That black 52 go hard"

I guess that could mean a few different things, but I'm guessing he's referring to black jerseys
